President’s Report Michael Cronin, VWCV President Welcome to the new month, remember the Club meeting at the RACV Club on the 18th will be held on the second floor, not the usual Henty Room, we have been moved up a floor for this month. See calendar over page for details.
Kennett River was once again a great weekend although the weather started of bad, cold wet and lots of wind, thankfully it was not a problem for the Tin Tents. To those of you that finally had a chance to make it for the first time I hope you enjoyed yourself and will continue to join us on this annual pilgrimage. We also had a chance to check out a different idea when it comes to interior fit outs with Jamie’s trailer made from a fridge, it drew a fair bit of interest. For once there was some reasonable surf, although it flattened out as the weekend progressed. If my memory is correct Evan won the best wipe

We will cruise within a 100 kilometre radius of Melbourne and should therefore take no longer than 90 minutes travelling time to reach our destination. There will be the option of a BYO picnic lunch or sampling one of the local eateries of the area. After lunch, there will be further opportunity to explore the picturesque township. There will be no requirement to book for the mystery cruise and the VWCV certainly welcomes everyone to attend, members and non-members with an interest in VWs.
out and Stewart is looking for a pair of braces to go with his bathers. The fish weren’t biting, must be a shortage of fresh fish at Kennett River. There were also rumours of a strange ritual being conducted after which a calm descended over the Kombis, some say they were even seen to smile. (you had to be there). The other main event for the month was Picnic at Hanging Rock. Even though we left earlier than last year we ended up parked on the oval. There were an estimated 3,000 vehicles, so plenty to look at. Once again the convoy of VWs looked good as it made its way up the highway.

We (the committee) decided to take a different approach for the first general meeting of the year and had a BBQ and social get together at Shed 4 down at the docklands, from the turn out and favourable comments it was well received so it looks like we may adopt this approach to start the year off in the future. Lets us know if you thought the shed 4 was a good idea. Well that’s it for this month. Happy Veedubbing and drive carefully especially over the Easter break.
