AstraZeneca vaccine recipients can get another AstraZeneca vaccine or an mRNA vaccine PROVINCIAL Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced on Thursday that if you have received the AstraZeneca vaccine, you have the choice to get another AstraZeneca vaccine, or you can choose to have an mRNA vaccine instead. They said they were sharing the details of the AstraZeneca Dose 2 approach, which is based on scientific evidence and the guidance of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization and their own B.C. immunization committee. Henry and Dix said: “Starting this coming Monday (June 7), and like the mRNA vaccines, everyone who has received the AstraZeneca vaccine will be notified to book their second vaccine after eight weeks. Once that notification goes out, you can book your vaccine.

On Thursday, Singh presented the NDP Opposition Day Motion, saying: “Survivors, families and nations are demanding concrete action to advance real reconciliation, as opposed to just more words and symbolic gestures. “While the Liberals have been in power for six years, they have failed to implement the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Furthermore, in less than two weeks, the Liberals are back

in court fighting First Nations children, denying them justice, and refusing to comply with Canadian Human Rights Tribunal orders. This must end. No more fighting Indigenous kids in court.” The NDP Opposition Day motion called on the Liberals to end their legal battle against First Nation children and accept the findings of the Human Rights Tribunal. The NDP is also calling on the Liberals to end their legal battle against St. Anne’s Residential School survivors. While it has been six years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) issued its 94 calls to action, only a fraction of those have been implemented. The NDP is calling on the Liberal to accelerate the adoption of the

with the emotional, physical, spiritual, mental, and cultural trauma. The NDP is also calling on the Liberal government to act with urgency on all Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls report’s Calls to Justice. “The Liberals cannot claim to honour the spirits of children who died in residential schools when they continue to take Indigenous kids to court,” said NDP Critic for Indigenous Youth, Charlie Angus. “This same government cannot claim to take their role in reconciliation seriously when they force survivors of residential schools to wage legal battles for recognition and compensation. New Democrats will fight for justice and real reconciliation with Indigenous people.”

“If you received your vaccine at a pharmacy, the pharmacy will contact you to book your next appointment. We ask that you please don’t contact the pharmacies to book – they will contact you. “If you decide to have an mRNA vaccine instead, you’ll be able to book online for an appointment at one of our mass clinics.” They added: “Every dose equals a vaccine appointment and we’re using every available dose of vaccine we have – every week. Because so many people in B.C. are signing up to get their vaccines, our clinics are busy, which may mean your appointment could be two or three weeks after you are invited to book. “What is important to know is that we have available supply for everyone over 12 in B.C. to be fully immunized with their first and second doses by the end of August.”
