Kamloops farmer Hothi is being hailed a as hero for his quick thinking. Hothi and his son Paul were on their farm in Heffley Creek when they heard the frantic calls. Their neighbours told them that they heard cries for help and the Hothis ran towards the river where they spotted a woman in trouble in the river. She said she couldn’t swim.

courageous enough to refuse to enter the Legion hall in protest and won the respect of the South Asian community. The Royal Canadian Legion finally managed to get over its racism and in 2001, Jauhal was actually invited to address the Remembrance Day event in White Rock. Jauhal said at the time: “It was with great reluctance that I accepted an invitation from Ms. Donna Kreiger, President of 240 Legion in White Rock. I simply could not say 'No' to her when she said that she

Paul told CFJC: “We ran over to the river's edge, and we have some Mexican workers at my uncle's farm, we had a whole bunch of these guys over. We weren't sure what to expect. My dad was about to jump in, but we waved her closer to shore, and then my dad realized, 'I'll just take off my turban.' He threw his turban in there, used it as a rope and pulled her to shore." He said the woman was freezing and in a state of shock. They wrapped her up in a blanket that a neighbour brought and took her to her grandma’s house.

CONGRATULATIONS! RCMP Assistant Commissioner Bill Fordy, Surrey's Officer in Charge, has been named as new Lower Mainland District Commander with the BC RCMP.
