Regional train service punctuality for the month of January finished just above 92 per cent despite a range of challenges. General Manager Network Control Rhett Buckley said wild weather in the final few days of January and the impacts of COVID on staff availability had inevitably affected some parts of the network. “The whole team delivering train services has performed exceptionally well, with only six days during the month of January

recording punctuality below 90 per cent,” Rhett said. “And when we were challenged, we rebounded quickly with average punctuality for the last weekend of January being just over 97 per cent.” While patronage during the holiday period is traditionally lower, Rhett said the most recent patronage data

was starting to show an increasing trend as commuters started to return to office working towards the end of January. “Despite the continuous challenges, we have maintained punctuality above 93 per cent for the first seven months of this financial year, which fills us with confidence as we head further into 2022,” he said.
