Changes to ‘My rights in youth care’ Since this brochure was printed, a few things have changed with respect to your rights when it comes to help for young people. As we still have many brochures in your language, we will list the most important changes below: * We no longer talk about an ‘intermediary’, but about a ‘person of trust’. Therefore, you can replace ‘intermediary’ with ‘person of trust’ throughout this brochure. A person of trust is someone you trust and who assists you with the help you get. Only someone over 18 can be your person of trust. A person of trust is not necessarily bound by professional confidentiality. (As a result, the explanation on p. 18 in this brochure is no longer correct.) * The Helpline for children and young people is now called AWEL and can be reached on the phone number 102 (p. 6, p. 29). * The amounts of the pocket money have changed (p. 21). For instance, children from 6 to 8 years old who are staying at a centre get around 6 euros pocket money per month. Children between 8 and 12 receive about 12 euros a month. * The Special Youth Assistance Committee (p. 28) no longer exists. Instead, there is now a Support Centre for Youth Care (Ondersteuningscentrum Jeugdzorg). * You can contact the Children’s Rights Centre (Kinderrechtswinkel) via this e-mail address: info@kinderrechtswinkel.be
