student s erv ic es A historically Black college gets a new gateway

A teamed project with Teeple Architects out of Toronto, Ontario, we collaborated on this 141,000GSF design and took ownership of exterior envelope details. The new “front door” of this university houses student service, business/bursar and the Morgan State University’s IT department. This project sought to blend the campus’ neoclassical style with the new contemporary campus commons. The project was completed in 2020 and was the recipient of the 2021 AIA Baltimore Grand Design Award.

Johns Hopkins University expands their recreation center This 30,000sf expansion was a collaboration between MJMA Architects out of Toronto, Ontario and GWWO Architects.

Exterior detailing of this zinc clad building was taken on by GWWO allowing a two decade building to blend seamlessly with the addition. The fins along the north end of the building utilized computational design to create a subtle rippling and control views back to the campus.

During my time at GWWO Architects I have worked on over 30+ projects, all of them proving to be valuable to my continued growth as a critical thinker and thought leader within the firm.

While some will never be realized, the design and visualization exploration proved invaluable. For those that have been, or are under construction, understanding the translation of drawn detail to physical space has proved to be greatly beneficial with every subsequent project. Every project poses new challenges, but more importantly they create new opportunities to learn and grow.

Nature Center for Devil’s Lake creating intimate learning courtyard while providing views to the park. Lead visualization, digital modeling and material selection.

Old Mill West High School, co-project architect, led interiors team, worked closely with consultants and material representatives. Estimated completion, 2024.

River Mountain Cabin approach in Pennsylvania. Led design and visualization, worked directly with client to brainstorm camp program and cabin functions.

River Mountain Cabin interior, created offset bunk beds so when lying down both levels can stargaze through skylight. Completed June 2020.

Computational Design used in school and workplace During my professional career I’ve worked to teach people about computation so when opportunities present themselves, I am added to the team to assist in idea explorations. I’ve had the opportunity to mill and laser cut full mock-ups at the local makerspace allowing refinement and iteration and have worked with subcontractors, providing files to bring digital ideas to reality.

I was trained in digital fabrication at Ball State and purchased a desktop mill while in Baltimore to supplement my time at the makerspace. Most recently I was invited to speak at the fifth annual 2021 Advanced Computational Building Design conference.
