Seven is my favourite number. Well one of them. I read the text first in ‘journo’ scan mode as I am somewhat impatient to watch the lecture. I have after all, been bereft of intellectual media interview discussions since viewing the last lecture. How I long for SBS or my DVD collection. BBC or ABC Radio – even JJJ. Yet I have not been bereft of reading nor hearing poetry entwined with daily mortal activities of a Bali cultural centre – nor those works of my own personal seeking – Rumi, Tagore, Pablo Neruda – all still haunt the narrow dusty laneways and yoga arts cafes of those who

have travelled from around the world – simply to travel again having met and found ‘experience’ in many forms.

I loved reading Kevin Brophy’s poem ‘Difficult’. I mused that contemporary poets still ‘dialogue’ with each other since times of old – a type of literary banter. One reflects, writes and recites.

Performative poetry. One listens, influenced, writes and recites. Repondez Vous? Yeats of Faire Queen, who despite being blown away, aptly gives the concept of ‘poem’ a home. Alas, ou est le reprise de Shakespeare? Where for art thou in the Hamlet? From classics to riches – nuggets of gold tra’verse’ the space of time and continue to hold their own where others paled and fell like rusted tin soldiers lined up in a firing range.

Step Three: The lecture material requires research, inquiry and reflection on the possibility of dying art and personal engagement.

Reveals a ‘position’ -­‐ a conclusion drawn for the future of poetry -­‐ based on inquiry

I’ve considered the ancient to renaissance greats. What about Shakespeare? Is the art of recital as ‘performative’ dying as well? Ah, but what about the soliloquy of Jazz Blues R&B singer/poetess – Jill Scott? Or revolutionary Michael Franti? What about Rap, Hip Hop, Drum and Base – where the rhythm of the spoken verse is revived and thus survived. The technology junket. Technology. Hold on – narrated verse over idyllic digital acoustic sounds – House, Dance, Lounge, Chill, Fusion and all manner of the contemporary combo performative lyricist-­‐poetess (and ‘he’ poet). A tickle to the intellect. Think Hemingway’s iceberg – there’s more underneath, and beyond. Poetry is personal. A personal relationship with self that somehow finds its way out through those coagulated body atoms to find a voice and expression in ‘balance’. Written from thought and not for thoughtlessness. Aha – the Greek tumbling of dice as chaos on page is referred. I also made oblique in my 703 creative media presentation to this aspect of unsolicited fate. Mental Note: I wonder if I was too oblique, too obscure with my writing? Did my tutor pick up on this chaos connection of

‘throw the dice never will abolish chance’? I must do what Japanese Geisha recommends. ‘Seek a second opinion’, She with eyes like rain. Haiku: Never Present.

‘No. No. No. You don’t love me any more now. But you left me and I’ve got no place to go.’ ‘Wither thou goes’, I will follow.’ ‘And wherever I lay my hat – that’s my home’. Thus the undying poem continues to ‘find’ a place to go in contemporary world. Yeats’ [dialectic] Pome finds Home. Its mass prominence may well coincide with the lyricist and popular revival of verse and performance with and in music.

Its true genre remains seeded in all thespian underground dark houses, where advocates gather to share its crusts with red wine, cigars or noni juice and flower petals in alternative non smoke filled rooms. Beyond recital and literary indulgence the poetry revival revives. Technology has served a platter of more spaces – clean bathroom walls are exchanged for the Internet tag, ditty or doodle.

Media responds well when the expression is succinct – or at least its architecture conveys this imposition. Hypertext audience loves poetic verse for ipod screens that WAP around the world in unprecedented profusion.
