AN YEN RETREAT MONASTERY On-going/

An Yen Retreat Monastery is a Buddhist Wellness center for adolescents with Common Mental Health Disorders in Vietnam , created with a hope to build a safe healing place for the vulnerable community. The project addressed the issue of social stigma against Mental health in Vietnam and at the same time, explore the possibility to combine cultural religion and foreign medical methodology.

The concept is meant to celebrate the prideful local industry and the beautiful meaning of the pearl. When a grain of sand enters the mussel shell and damages its body, the mussel creates layers of nacre that encases the sand to protect itself; from there a precious pearl is born.

When it comes to the cruising industry, one of the key thing in marketing is brand loyalty. Designers play a crucial role in helping brands capturing their target customers and achieving their aimed position in the marketplace. This project discovers a unique way to reach potential guests by creating an immersive pop-up experience that highlights the four aspects of taking a cruise: dining, onboard service, staterooms, and port of call destinations.

Transcending the Horizon Drawing inspiration from Regent Seven Seas’ eminent ideology of offering their guests an unrivaled experience and tailored service, the pop-up at Marina Bay Sands invites guests on a journey toward the horizon and beyond. Like the compass rose, it guides guests through endless moments of regional exploration and cultural gratification. The atmosphere creates an intimate comfort ensconced in timeless sophistication, transcending guests to the tranquility of the new realm. In harmony with the brand language, the space speaks of nurture, savor, wander, and experience imbued in grandeur and opulance.

Each unique space represents the unrivaled experience that Regent bring to their guests with immersive design for users to have their senses stimulated and develop interest in brand loyalty.

Showtime is reserved only for 1 pax to highlight the exclusivity of the brand, so guests will book their slot through an online platform beforehand. The show begins when guests arrive through East| (E)xperience, greeted by a personal concierge and settle in their golden throne in the middle.

To the South is (S)avor, an abstract representation of the fine dining experience offered by Regent Seven Seas.

Each sculpture symbolizes the feelings after each taste, sweet, spicy, or savory.

Through the mirror ceiling reflection, they resemble a fine dining plating with molecular gastronomy art.

Sidewall LED screens showing close-up viewing of chefs cooking on the cruise to further depict the elevated features of Regent.

The space is now filled with deli aroma and passionate cooking sounds to engage all senses.

(W)ANDER

(W)ander coordinates to the West, where guests will be transported to a world where all cultures and landscapes merge in one. Gigantic bamboo structures draw them into this breathtaking realm that Regent excursions program offers with over 450 ports of call.

Guests are able to interact with the digital globe to choose where they want to see and the video screens will showcase their dream place.

Speakers will omit sound of birds and rusting leaves as the micro-environment comes to life.

(N)URTURE

North | (N)urture highlights the luxury accommodations onboard Regent cruises.

The central tapestry mimics the motion of the sea and blurs the line between furnishings in the staterooms and the ocean view that greets guests at their balcony.

Close-up detailed images of opulent furnishings and textiles provide them a clear picture of what to expect from their potential Regent Seven Seas stay.

World-renowned paintings and sculptures showcase the brand’s curated arts programs.

COLOR STORY

LIVING AREA

The ceiling design takes inspiration from the nautilus shell that presents the golden ratio to gently remind guests that they are being nurtured in the state of perfection.

Covid-19 pandemic has brought so many unexpected changes to the hospitality industry. Being significantly impacted, restaurants now have to grow take-out venue as a way to maintain business. As we enter the Post Covid world, it is crucial to continue this revenue for long-term stability by making Grab and Go an official fixture in restaurants.

This project highlights the possibilities of creating a unique experience for both carry-out and dine-in customers.

SKETCHES CONCEPTUAL

Hand sketches are produced in early stages to visualize the overall atmosphere and general design of the space. These drawings are created using ink pen on tracing paper and then got inverted to black and white in Photoshop to highlight the intensity and energy of the restaurant.

IMMERSIVE EXHIBITION Digital art is projected onto the wall and floor to deliver a borderless space.

Guests can fully immerse in the scene and interact as the images will change as they touch them.

MAIN DINING AREA Projection on the floor serves as a wayfinding for incoming guests to locate their seats.

OUTDOOR DELIVERY AREA To not interrupt the guests’ immersive experience, food pickup will happen outdoor. Food apps shippers would follow the wayfinding to the kitchen door to pick up their orders.

For carryout customers, after checking in, their orders will be brought out from here and handed to them in the main entrance.

Light tube partitions help separate the main dining hall from the restrooms. It also brings a unique personal experience for guests that don’t have the opportunity to seat by the immersive walls. Its neon pink color and vertical movements are meant to resemble the falling of cherry blossom petals.

MAIN DINING AREA

Eat-in diners have a chance to immerse in a different world, with all images representing the culture of Japan. On the digital art walls, there are dancers synchronizing to the fans zooming in and out to create a sense of depth and also to embody the concept of blooming and amplifying.

The projection running across the floor is for the guests to have an additional immersive experience and at the same time anchors down the floating tables in middle of the room

MAIN DINING AREA

Overhang ceiling design made out of fabric to bring in the flowers’ softness. It is meant to create a scenery of blooming cherry blossom overhead of guests sitting at the bar. Pendants are curated and organized radially to portray the stamen of the flowers

BAR

This statement wall incorporates Japanese woodblock printings into the wallcovering to highlight the cuisine the restaurant serves. All the artworks are heavily associated with the presence of flowers to emphasize the concept of HANAEMI. The overall space advocates the design approach “More is More” as Wynwood, Miami is known for its overwhelming graffiti scenes with many wall murals.
