A performing arts center that revolves around the seperation of public versus private through the use of a large atrium. The atrium is celebrated through its verticality, allowing those within it to view hierarchy of the space. The materiality begins to become one with the building, blurring the lines between the interior and exterior.

In a world where we are globally connected, we have become diconnected, lacking physical interaction. The East Side Hub, a modern day piazza, is a space that brings community back together through visual connection and social interaction. Observability is focused towards the center of the square, allowing people to interact.

Kansas Fall 2021 | Design Studio | Professor: Torgeir Norheim Rhino | Vray | Photoshop | Illustrator

The Wamego Firehouse focuses on community engagement through multi-scalar levels of design, with a direct focus of the site scale and a larger focus of the surrounding street scape. The recessed void of the north facade allows there to be seating and circulation under the second level. This also allows the building to reach out to the newly developed pedestrian street.
