(ICT) equipment. The centre has so far acquired three flat screen television sets, and five new computers have been purchased for the benefit of both the children and staff. “The ICT equipment still envisaged for Morning Star will be finalised at a meeting between the local Telkom Foundation representatives and the Morning Star management team,” says Joan Adams, general
manager of Morning Star. On 24 August, the Telkom Foundation’s official launch of the project and the handing over of the equipment took place at Morning Star’s Welkom Centre. Gallant Roberts, the Telkom Foundation’s representative, and Jowa Mooko, local project leader, officiated the ceremony, stressing the need for the business community to be involved in community service and, in
this way, give back to deserving recipients “There was a heart-touching message from one of the parents and a learner, Prosper Orukwem, detailing how the Telkom Foundation’s donations will really benefit the children at the centre.” Adams concluded the proceedings with a word of thanks and invited guests, children and staff to enjoy a braai in the gardens.
