4. Blue Boar 5 Castlegate, YO1 9RN

Established in 1782, The Three Tuns is one of York’s last surviving historic pubs. Situated on Coppergate, close to JORVIK Viking Centre and the Grand Opera House, we serve awardwinning cask ales, homemade hot mulled cider and the best freshly beer battered fish and chips in town!

A traditional style country pub in the heart of the city, sitting in the shadow of York Minster. A warm welcome, handpulled ales, home-cooked food, quizzes, live music, dog friendly, lots of history. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

Reputedly haunted by Dick Turpin, whose body was laid in the vaulted cellars, the Blue Boar has an intriguing past. Today you’ll find a range of awardwinning cask ales and great food served until 9.30pm daily. Also showing all the best sporting action on Sky Sports.

3. Blue Bell 53 Fossgate, YO1 9TF

5. Ye Olde Shambles Tavern 44 Shambles, YO1 7LZ

The Blue Bell is York’s smallest, friendliest and most traditional pub. It is the only pub in York to have a Grade II* Listed, untouched, 1903 Edwardian interior and is the CAMRA Pub of the Season for Winter 2017, awarded in recognition of the quality of its ales, service and atmosphere.

The tavern, a former butcher’s, is situated in the historic Shambles serving Yorkshire beer and cider, a traditional pub menu and enjoys Good Food Awards and Trip Advisor Customer Excellence Awards. Our outside seating area backs onto the vibrant marketplace.
