1 GUIDED WALK IN TÓRSHAVN’S OLD TOWN, TINGANES Historic Tinganes is the oldest part of Tórshavn and still today houses the Prime Minister’s office and administrative offices. This district has always been the political and commercial centre of the Faroe Islands and is full of tales of murky commercial dealings and political struggles as well as romance and misconduct. Who knows, you may even bump into the Faroese Prime Minister. Even if you only come across free range chickens in Tinganes, you’ll soon understand that tradition and modernity go hand in hand in this very special part of the Faroese capital. 2 BIKE TOUR TO NORÐRADALSSKARÐ We cycle along the coast towards Oyggjarvegur which climbs upout of town. The views from Oyggjarvegur as we climb towards the mountain pass, Norðadalsskarð, at 225m above sea level, are spectacular. At the pass itself we have views over the hilly terrain, the village of Norðadalur and the island of Koltur (478m).

3 RENT A BOAT Explore the waters of the fjord off Tórshavn by traditional Faroese boat. 9 VISIT SIGNABØGARÐUR Hike through Faroese history with local farmers as your guide, climbing up to 200m above sea level. Hear about the islands’ first inhabitants from 1400 and see an old whaling station. Say hello to Faroese horses and sheep along the way and try Faroese specialties from the f­armers. 10 NÓLSOY: FAIRY TALES, FOOD AND FOLKLORE Take the ferry to Nólsoy. One of us will meet you at the harbour. At our café, we will serve you grilled cod (or something equally as delicious). After lunch, we’ll take you on a one hour stroll through our village and tell you stories about local heroes and of pirates. We’ll also tell you about the legend of the Scottish princess who once lived here (the old settlement in Cornvally is still visible) and of course answer all your questions about life on Nólsoy. 7 SEA CAVE MUSIC CONCERT AND SIGHTSEEING A rare opportunity to hear a music concert from inside a sea cave. We enter the sea cave in small boats to hear the music in its full glory - the acoustics are quite extraordinary. The rock walls become one with the music. Naturally on the way you’ll have tremendous views of Tórshavn and the island of Hestur where the concerts are held. 11 NÓLSOY: THE NETTLE TOUR – WILD LOCAL PLANTS A two-hour stroll complete with basket, scissors and protective gloves (the nettles sting if you are not careful). We talk about local recipes, the island’s natural resources, and, of course, all the edible wild plants we pass on the way. We end our tour by lighting the barbecue and making an amazing nettle pizza together. 16 SANDOY AND KIRKJUBØUR Visit the pastoral landscapes of the island of Sandoy where you’ll see one of the oldest churches in the Faroes. Sandoy has plenty of picturesque villages and stunning landscapes for your holiday photos, too. This is an island of historical sites, majestic bird cliffs and even one of the biggest postboxes in the world. Kirkjubøur was the medieval cultural and ecclesiastical centre of the Faroe Islands. Here you’ll see the impressive remains of a magnificent cathedral, as well as the Church of Saint Olav and the King’s Farm, the former bishop’s seat. Price: DKK 995 per adult / DKK

17 THE GOLDEN CIRCLE (SAKSUN, TJØRNUVÍK AND GJÓGV) Three of the most beautiful villages, the biggest waterfall and some of the best viewpoints the Faroe Islands have to offer. 15 NORTHERN EYSTUROY Day trip by bus with guide past the old whaling station við Áir to the beautiful village of Saksun. The tour continues on to the village of Funningur with its Viking settlements, the scenic village of Gjógv and the village of Eiði, where, among other things, you’ll see the well-known stone formations “Risin and Kellingin”. A bus tour to Hvalvík where we stop to see the oldest wooden church in the Faroe Islands. The tour then continues to Kvívík where we visit Viking excavations. The last stop is in ­Vestmanna, where you can visit the SagaMuseum.

Come to the southernmost part of Nólsoy, Borðan, where the lighthouse from 1893 is located. We will see ruins and hear the stories about when people hid from the pirates in the old days.

Visit Viðareiði the northernmost settlement in the Faroe ­Islands, Klaksvík the fishing capital of the Faroe Islands and then Gjógv with its amazing gorge (natural harbour). In Tjørnuvík you can enjoy views of Risin and Kellingin.

The hike starts in Mjørkadalur, where cairns lead you to the west side of the island of Streymoy. Already from the flat area on Skeiðsskarð the view is spectacular. Fifty million years ago, this area was part of a huge basalt plateau, which has since eroded into the unique rock formations around you.

A picturesque village at the bottom of what was once a sea inlet surrounded by steep mountains. You will also see the church in Saksun, built in 1858 and the old farm Dúvugarðar. Afterwards a stop will be made in Hvalvík, where the oldest church in Faroe Islands is located.

23 BUS TRIP TO GJÓGV The village of Gjógv is located at the north-eastern tip of ­Eysturoy, the second largest island in the Faroes. On our way east we will stop for a short stroll on the bridge connecting the islands Streymoy and Eysturoy. Shortly ­afterwards we’ll then pass the imposing summits of ­Slættaratindur (882 metres) and Gráfelli (857 metres), the tallest mountains in the archipelago, located between the villages of Eiði and Gjógv.

28 TOUR TO GÁSADALUR Gásadalur is home to the beautiful and famous waterfall Múlafossur. Múlafossur is a must see, and one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Faroe Islands, and with good reason, the view of the village of Gásadalur and Múlafossur are spectacular: the waterfall drops vertically into the Atlantic below. A round trip from Gamlarætt on Streymoy to the island of Hestur which includes sightseeing around the island. If the weather is good, we also sail into the caves, Álvagjógv and Klæmintsgjógv.

Amazing and breathtaking views on the mountain Fjallið millum botna: on reaching the summit, you will have the most spectacular view imaginable. You will see all the southern isles as well as Vágar. To the north, you will see most of the northern isles too. Fjallið millum botna measures 690 meters.

34 HIKING: FYRI VESTAN Fyri Vestan - ”the west side” is a very popular hike on the island of Streymoy. When you hike along the old path to Norðradalur, you are on the front row to one of the most wonderful and breath-taking sceneries in the country.

Only two people reside on Koltur, and the island has the lowest mountain in the Faroe Islands, “Fjallið”, which means “the mountain”. 35 VESTMANNA BIRD CLIFFS AND GROTTOS A boat tour through narrow sounds and into deep grottos, carved by the surf over the ages. You’ll come exceptionally close to the cliffs which rise 457 metres above sea level, where thousands of sea birds make their nests. 36 MYKINES EVENING PUFFIN AND SUNSET TOUR 32 HIKING: STAKKURIN – TJØRNUVÍK The guide will lead you along the hiking trail up to the valley of Torvadalur, on to Kambur and then westwards to Skoradalsheyggjur, where there is a view of the entire bay of Sjeyndir.
