STREET ENTERTAINMENT
NoFit State Circus: Bamboo
Cardiff based NoFit State Circus tour the world with their big top shows. Bamboo is their new outdoor performance. The artists arrive at an empty stage, bringing bundles of bamboo. They build towering sculptures which become a vertical playground that seems to defy the laws of physics. Inhabited by world-class circus artists and acrobats, the structures bend and flex to amazing feats of strength and agility.
Daryl & Co: Look Mum, No Hands!
Look Mum, No Hands! is a tender tale of friendship and growing up; a coming-of-age story about two friends testing their own boundaries. One of the friends is a wheelchair user. The two actors use this to explore exciting acrobatic shapes and unexpected choreography that is visually beautiful and physically surprising.
PROGRAMME BY 12
Pif-Paf: Seed
Seed journeys into the life of the young and ancient living beings that we walk under every day. Rockabilly Anarcho-Nomad Wilford is planting trees where he shouldn’t, living in his shed and on the run from his past and his arch-enemies, SLUGS!
Working Boys Club: Serving Sounds
Working Boys Club make and create work by mixing their experience in the arts with their past lives as tradesmen (electrician and mechanic). Serving Sounds is a multi-sensory sound installation that creates connections through music – a bar that serves bass and beats rather than beer.
Dizzy O’Dare: Falconry Dismay
Prepare to laugh your way through the raucous ride that is Falconry Dismay. Showcasing the extraordinary talents of 3 majestic birds of prey guided by their expert handler Kevin Tickle, this show is anarchic, wild and definitely not educational!
Pif-Paf: Toast
Toast is a beautiful big-hearted extravaganza of food, dance, live music, songs and tales from around the world. Join the Guild of Toasters, dance with them through the seasons and enjoy their treats in a love song to community.
13
Jack Wise
Hosting our Cabaret Stage this year is Irish Magician, Comedian and Ventriloquist Jack Wise. His show is a roller coaster ride of audience participation that includes Jedi like mind-reading, jaw dropping magic tricks and hilarious ventriloquism.
Bill and Fred Productions: Adventures
Bill and Fred struggle to embark on a journey. Just when they are ready to go, they realise they forgot their backpacks which hold everything they need to start their adventure. Confusion and misunderstandings arise, but they always manage to pull through.
Bill and Fred Productions: The Grannies
Two older women, Billie and Frieda, share experiences of their wild and profound lives. They are slow in presence yet young in heart, full of cheekiness and charm. Frieda is a naughty one and Billie likes to surprise people with a little craziness here and there.
14
The Chipolatas
Drawing on three decades of international touring, Tristan Glover, Alfredo Perez Muino and Xampito Otero are The Chipolatas. Their show is a mix of folk music, electronica, clowning and circus skills that has delighted audiences all over the world.
Dizzy O’ Dare:
The Giant Balloon Show
Take everything you know about balloons, twist it into a theatrical experience, add an awardwinning clown and an 80’s soundtrack and you have The Giant Balloon Show!
Pif-Paf: The Flycycle & The Submercycle
As it’s their 21st birthday, Pif -Paf’s unique blend of intimate and spectacular visual theatre is showcased with no fewer than 5 of their best loved creations. All aboard their famous travelling machines, The Flycycle and The Submercycle!
Choose a travelling companion, find the Departure Lounge and they’ll take care of the rest. Fly up, up and away, or dive deep under sea…enjoy the ride!
15
Pif-Paf: Bee Cart
Bee Guides Bombus and Borage have left the Hive with the Bee Cart –their mobile world of interaction and surreal but true information exploring all things Bees and Pollination. The Bee Cart is exciting, accessible walkabout theatre for audiences of all ages. Commissioned by The British Science Association.
The Show Globe: Sea Sphere
Beauty and enchantment surround Anahita the mermaid as she glides gracefully through crowds, sheltered safely in her giant magical globe. This mystical mermaid mesmerises young and old alike with her undersea performance, complete with dancing seaweed, creatures of the deep, and showers of bubbles rising to the surface.
Bell And Bullock: All At Sea
The debonair Captain Monty Montague pilots his luxury cabin cruiser whilst towing his gorgeous water-skiing wife Minty. Join them for a spot of tiddler fishing from their offshore tax haven and take care not to end up as catch of the day yourself!
