The Midnight Sun
From mid-May until the end of July the sun never sets in Narvik. This phenomenon is commonly known as the midnight sun. There is no need to get up early to seize the day – you have daylight 24/7. Even in August and September the sun lingers above the horizon until around 9 p.m.

Experience the magnificent nature of the Narvik region In the Narvik region you are never far from fjords and mountains. The region has countless opportunities for hiking, with fantastic nature and exciting history. Different range of difficulty from beginners, to intermediate and adrenaline seekers. Rallarveien, or the Navvy road, will please nature lovers and history buffs, alike. It is a famous hiking trail that takes you to the spectacular Rombaksfjord, where the original navvy settlement was located. The hike can be combined with a train trip and a boat tour. From the centre of Narvik, an 8-minute cable car ride takes you up the station of Narvikfjellet at 656 mas. to offer a panorama view of the town and the Ofotfjord. There are numerous hiking trails, and mountains guides can be rented.

Canoeing at Lapphaugen
Join us for a canoe trip and try paddling your own canoe. We follow the river that meanders into the valley in Stormyra. Experience the beautiful nature on this magic trip, listen to the sound of the paddle, the silence and bird singing. There will be stops on the way and lots of photo opportunities. We also stop for lunch and a rest before we paddle back the same way.

Linken Climbing park
Linken Climbing Park consists of two obstacle courses up in the air, with varying difficulty. It is located in the forest at the top of the children’s area in Narvikfjellet. Our climbing instructor will meet you in the lavvu (sami tent) by the ridge of the forest. Here you will be given instructions on using appropriate safety equipment and rules. In Linken Climbing Park, we facilitate challenging activities and good experiences for all ages and skill levels in a safe environment. Our guide will be present for assistance during the entire climbing experience.

Experience Narvikfjellet
Narvikfjellet is a well-known winter destination for skiing and other winter sports. It also offers activities during the summer. Did you know you could experience the midnight sun from the Mountain Restaurant? You could also hike up to the top of the mountain (Linken 1003 mas) and experience the spectacular view across the mountains. You can even cycle some of Norway's toughest downhill slopes, or embark on a milder variation of trail riding. Walking from the town centre to the Mountain Restaurant is though still the most usual and wellknown activity as it suit everyone (1hr - 1,5hr walk).

Guided hike to the top of Narvik (Linken 1003 mas) Experience the amazing scenery and the beautiful midnight sun from the top of Narvik. The cable car takes you up to 656 mas, from where you can join our guide for a pleasant hike up to the Linken 1003 mas. From the top, you have a great view of the Ofotfjord, Narvik and mountains as far as the eye can see. An experience of a lifetime!

Cable Car roundtrip 656 mas
The cable car takes you to the Mountain Restaurant, 656 meters above sea level. At the Mountain Restaurant you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Ofotfjord and the mountains around the town, among them "The Sleeping Queen". On sunny days, you can even spot the mountains of the Lofoten islands. The cable car takes about 8 minutes on the 1810 meter long ride from the cable car bottom station up to the top station. The capacity is 350 passengers per hour. The cable car operates both summer and winter.

Experience Ofotbanen and the Navvy Price Road with a local The excursion starts at Narvik Railway Station, where you will be met by a local host. You will embark on a 30 minute train journey along steep mountains with a spectacular view of the Rombaksfjord. We disembark at Katterat station, a station which is only reachable by foot or train. The tour continues along Rallarveien - The Navvy Road. Great nature experiences are waiting for you while walking in the footsteps of the Navvies. The trail ends up in beautiful Rombaksbotn, where the Navvies once lived. In Rombaksbotn you will be picked up by a RIB boat and get to experience Rombaksbotn from the seaside, before transfer back to Narvik by bus.

RIB Boat and Bus transfer from Rombaksbotn to Narvik The breathtaking Navvy Road stretches all the way from Abisko in Sweden to Rombaksbotn in Norway. Originally the Navvy Road was the main traffic artery during the construction period of the Ofotbanen railway. Today the road is reopened for cultural and historic walks in the area. We recommend the train from Narvik to either Katterat or Bjørnfjell Station and the Navvy Road down to Rombaksbotn. From Katterat it is a 6 km walk and from Bjørnfjell about 15 km walk. If you are a more experienced hiker you could hike the trail all the way from Abisko to Rombaksbotn which is a 52 km walk.

Fjord Cruise in the Arctic Ofot Fjord

Experiencing the view of the mountains, the town and nature from the fjord is something special. Polar Park is the northernmost animal park in the world. In Polar Park you can meet wolves, brown bears, lynx, wolverines, arctic foxes, elks, reindeer and other animals from the polar fauna. In the centre of Narvik, you will find the Narvik War Museum, a modern new war museum with interactive experiences. Museum North – Narvik The Museum North - Narvik is located at a walking distance from the town square, overlooking the harbour and Narvik. The beautiful brick house, built in 1902 for the administration of the Ofoten district of the Norwegian Railway Company, is now a place where you can get to know the history of Narvik. The museum's exhibitions tell stories of the construction and the operation of the Ofoten line railway, the navvies who built the railway, the Swedish mining company LKAB and the irone ore transport from the ice-free port of Narvik. Learn about everyday life in Narvik through the exhibitions, and see how Narvik has changed during its history. This year the museum also features the exhibition about Sami people in the Ofoten region.

Museum North – Ballangen The exhibitions atMuseum North- Ballangen includes the museum building itself, the director's office, the mining activities and the laboratory. Extensive mining operations have taken place since the 1670s in the community of Ballangen. With copper, pyrite and zinc being the main minerals extracted, objects, photos and text tell the story of how the mining operation was carried out. The most comprehensive business was at Bjørkaasen Gruber AS, after an exploration period, the foundation of the mining company took place in 1913. The operation lasted until 1964. During the construction period about 450 people were employed.

6 sea cottages (rorbuer). Each cottage is about 60m2 with capacity for 6-8 people. Every cabin has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and 3 bedrooms, and all have access to the wharf, the floating dock and the rental boats. On the quay there are fish cleaning facilities with electricity.

Garsnes Brygge is a holiday resort idyllically situated by the Sagfjord in Salangen, only 6 km from the village of Sjøvegan. The complex was recently renovated and it is in constant growth; with a campsite, new cabins, new pier and marina, only during the past two years. All our cabins have wooden, cosy décor, a fully equipped kitchen, a private furnished terrace, and a bathroom with a shower. The restaurant and the bar at Garsnes Brygge is open from May till September. While staying at Garsnes Brygge you can treat yourself with some extra luxury by renting our outdoor jacuzzi.
