Hap Motlow, of the legendary Jack Daniel family from Lynchburg, TN, used to tell his friend Harry Lipman, “Just like great whiskey, a great beer starts with the best ingredients – good water, choice grains and high-grade yeast . . . brewed with integrity.” As the first distributor of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey after the repeal of prohibition, Harry passed this lesson down through the generations of Lipmans, who still remain in the beverage alcohol business to this day. Hap & Harry’s Tennessee Lager honors the friendship these two men shared over a half century ago. Cheers to great friends and great beer!

Wild Little Thing Slightly Sour Ale ABV: 5.5%

What's in the glass?

Most sours are brewed the traditional way, with wooden barrels and lots of time. But Wild Little Thing is made using a technique called accelerated “kettle souring.” First, we make wort (unfermented beer) without any hops. Then we boil it, cool it and add lactobacillus, the same friendly bacteria you know from yogurt or sauerkraut.

Lactobacillus turns sugar into lactic acid. Voila! Now we’re sour. We blend this special wort (roughly 10%) back into Wild Little Thing’s total wort to achieve its tartness.
