Once the site of a 16th century Spanish Mission

a 20th century pine plantation, Cedar Point NPS is approximately 400 acres at the south end of Black Hammock Island. Hiking and biking are allowed on the trails and provide an opportunity to see over 200 species of birds. It is part of the larger 7 Creeks Recreation Area.

FULLER WARREN BRIDGE SHARED USE PATH

715 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204

The shared use path is a paved, 12-foot-wide path with two 6-foot-wide lanes for walkers, runners and cyclists on the south side of the Fuller Warren Bridge. The path is separated from bridge traffic by a fence and connects the Riverside Avondale and San Marco neighborhoods.

KATHRYN ABBEY HANNA PARK

500 Wonderwood Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32233

Explore 15 miles of wood paths by bike or by foot within Hanna Park. The hard-packed white sand along the ocean also offers a great spot to run. Dogs are allowed in all outdoor areas of park. They must be properly restrained and picked up after.

JACKSONVILLE-BALDWIN RAIL TRAIL

Explore what was once a part of the CSX railway line. There are two paths: one paved for walking, jogging, in-line skating and/or biking and a parallel unpaved path for horseback riding. Additional unpaved trails are off the main trail into adjacent public conservation land.

JIM WINGATE PRESERVE

Jim Wingate Preserve is an equestrian-themed trailhead that is also welcome to hikers and bikers. It is part of the larger 7 Creeks Recreation Area and provides access to the adjacent trails of Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park.

LAVILLA LINK

Begins at the S-line Rail Trail at State Street just east of Myrtle, near Wilcox. There is parking along State Street.

This 1.3-mile trail segment connects the Brooklyn neighborhood to the existing S-Line Rail Trail and is part of the Emerald Trail. The LaVilla Link is named for the historic neighborhood of Jacksonville that was once a vibrant area of nightlife and entertainment.

PUMPKIN HILL CREEK PRESERVE

Equestrians, hikers and off-road bicyclists can explore miles of multi-use trails that wind through the park and connect to the trail systems of the adjacent city preserves.

Accessibility: Accessible amenities include an interpretive display at Visitor Center, picnic areas at canoe/kayak launch and main parking lot, creek overlook at canoe/kayak launch and UTAP trail information for trail network.

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome on hiking trails, picnic areas, paved park roads, parking lots and multi-use trails, but not on the shoreline.

RIVERWALK

Expanding along the St. Johns River, the Riverwalk perfectly combines the serenity of the water with the urban core’s upbeat vibe. This route along the North and Southbank creates a perfect five mile out-and-back loop.

S LINE

Begins at Myrtle Avenue near State Street and continues northeast through Durkeeville and Springfield ending behind Norwood Plaza in Brentwood.

The S-Line is a 4.8-mile rails-to-trails multi-use path that is part of the Emerald Trail. In 1886, the Jacksonville Belt Railroad was constructed between Springfield and the current Rail Yard District. Over the years, it became known as the S-Line because of its “S” shape.

SEATON CREEK PRESERVE

The park offers three trails covering about five miles.

TILLIE FOWLER REGIONAL PARK

7000 Roosevelt Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32244

The 1.2-mile Tower Trail reaches an observation tower in the middle with great views. The 2.25-mile loop Island Trail is also available. The park includes three different bike trails.

THOMAS CREEK CONSERVATION AREA WEST

8761 Thomas Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32219

Five miles of multi-use trails at this conservation area. Enjoy a hike or bike ride through these nature trails.

BIKING TRAILS

A1A OCEAN ISLANDS TRAIL

This 40-mile ride starts in Fernandina Beach and stretches south along A1A through Jacksonville to the Duval County line. There are designated bike lanes in certain portions.

BEACH AND PEACH URBAN PARK

Jacksonville’s Southside is a mountain biker must-ride, and its mountain biking and BMX trails often play host to national competitive events.

Bike on one of the suggested routes starting from or ending in Springfield. Trails range from 3 miles to 7 miles roundtrip. Learn more at sparcouncil.org/explorethecore.

LITTLE TALBOT ISLAND STATE PARK

Stay on the paved two-and-a-half-mile Park Drive Timucuan Trail segment, ride off road through the maritime forest on the Dune Ridge Trail or enjoy a ride on the hard-packed beach sand. At the south end of the island, there is a bike trailhead for the paved multi-use Timucuan Trail.

Accessibility: Accessible amenities include information kiosks and interpretive panels, a wheelchair-friendly 2.5-mile segment of the paved Timucuan Trail multiuse pathway with covered bike pavilion, benches and interpretive displays and UTAP trail information for the Dune Ridge, Campground Nature Loop and Timucuan trails.

TIMUCUAN ECOLOGICAL AND HISTORIC PRESERVE

Located on State Road A1A North

The preserve is home to the Timucuan Trail, which has more than 10 miles of paved and woodbridge biking. You can also ride your bike out to an island just off the Atlantic Coast on the Big Talbot Island Trails.

ALEJANDRO GARCES CAMP TOMAHAWK PARK

There are three trail loops with the option to connect trails for a longer distance. Enjoy the hike through the shaded trails with benches and boardwalks along the way.

BETZ TIGER POINT PRESERVE

12100 Pumpkin Hill Road Jacksonville, FL 32226

Stunning scenic views as well as abundant wildlife can be seen in this natural setting while walking or horseback riding. Three different trails with a distance up to 3.4 miles.

BOGEY CREEK PRESERVE

5500 Cedar Point Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32226

Bogey Creek Preserve is a 75-acre area showcasing cypress swamps, coastal forests, and salt marsh that support a wide variety of wildlife. The Bugtussle Loop Trail extend through most of the preserve.

BRANAN FIELD WILDLIFE AND ENVIRONMENTAL AREA

Three-mile trail through woods where numerous gopher tortoise burrows are easy to spot. Wildlife viewing is good year-round with a variety of resident and migratory birds seen often.

CEDAR POINT PRESERVE

The Cedar Point Loop Trail takes you through maritime hammock with marsh views. The trail is a 3.6 mile loop.

CRYSTAL SPRINGS PARK

Hike on this nature trails through the woods. A family friendly park with playgrounds, picnic shelters and sports courts.

JACKSONVILLE ARBORETUM & BOTANICAL GARDENS

1445 Millcoe Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32225

This 120-acre urban woodland has 3 miles of rustic hiking trails, a variety of natural ecosystems, native wildlife, beautiful streams and a peaceful pond.

Accessibility: A handicap-accessible unisex restroom and water fountain are located at the entry next to the parking area. Paved walkways at the entry are handicap-accessible. There is also handicap-accessible access to the pavilion shelter from the Lake Loop at the east end of the lake. Information signs concerning the grades and slopes for the Lake Loop are posted near the entry.

RINGHAVER PARK

Two easy walking trails to enjoy with a serene nature view. Take the Park’s boardwalk to the water and see part of the Ortega River.

THEODORE ROOSEVELT AREA

Three different trails meander through steep hills and beautiful wooded and grassland areas. Try the 1.2-mile Hammock Trail to immerse yourself in nature. Dogs are allowed and must be on a six-foot leash.

TREE HILL NATURE CENTER

The 50-acre nature preserve features seven trails, natural gardens, native animals, a petting zoo and a hands-on natural history museum.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA NATURE TRAILS

From sandy trails to wetlands trails, the Sawmill Slough Preserve is 382 acres located on campus. With five trails, distances ranging from .31 to 2.85 miles, there is much to explore when hiking on the Preserve.

Accessibility: The boardwalk trail is handicap accessible.
