Located just east of Downtown Jacksonville, Exchange Island Park sits on 34 acres of land in the middle of the St. Johns River. Originally called “Mud Island for its lack of vegetation, this City Park now offers an urban oasis for adventure lovers with lush trees, hiking trails, picnic areas and a boat launch all in the heart of Jacksonville. Exchange Island is the best spot to visit for stunning 360-degree views of our Downtown and its bridges, skyline and our beautiful St. Johns River. We invite you to bring the whole family out to experience this hidden Jacksonville gem! Furry friends are welcome in the park.
How to get there: Visitors can access the island by boat, paddle board or kayak and tie up on the dock. No boat? No problem! Book the Exchange Island specialty tour with the St. Johns River Taxi and Tours.
What to see/do:

Bring your food and set up under the pavilion with picnic tables. • Explore the island by following the designated trails that loop the entire island. You can take a break and sit on the wooden benches along the trail to take in the beauty of this urban island. Take a picture of the Exchange Island marker. • Bring your fishing rod to cast a line off the island. • To keep cool, set up a chair under the trees or catch some shade at one of the picnic benches under the pavilions.
