A Welcome from the Chair of Isle of Bute Artists' Collective “Welcome to the Isle of Bute and the seventh Isle of Bute Artists’ Collective (IBAC) open studio trail. Arranged as a circular tour of the island you can visit nineteen artists exhibiting in thirteen different venues over two days. It’s a wonderful way to meet some lovely and talented people and see a little of the breathtaking scenery that inspires them.

IBAC brings together a range of the many artists and craftspeople who live and work on Bute. Painting, printing, woodwork, textiles, musical instruments, jewellery, puppets and more, the variety of high quality work on display is extraordinary. The widely differing workspaces are interesting too; from dedicated artist’s studios to corners of living rooms and all sorts in between. The artists will be happy to speak to you about what they do and some will be working or offering demonstrations as you visit. Whatever the venue you can be certain of warm welcomes and some pleasant surprises on your tour.

Alison trained at Glasgow School of Art and has been a professional storyteller for six years. Her workshop holds classes on how to construct all kinds of puppets, costumes and masks. Puppets available for sale.

Inspired by nature, most of Pat’s jewellery has an organic feel with gnarled and knobbled surfaces. She uses both gold and silver as well as natural gemstones in her pieces.

Debbie has been making silver and gold jewellery for ten years. Her pieces are influenced by movement and texture, often conveyed using etching, rolling and press forming techniques.

Norrie Towers

Norrie works in watercolour, acrylics, gouache and pastels. She has exhibited in Lochwinnoch, Kilmalcolm and Paisley and has recently started hand painting greetings cards, which are available in retail outlets throughout the island.

Ray designs and creates unique wooden pieces ranging from beds and kitchens to mirrors and clocks. He uses timber from around the world and often has items made with wood from the island.

Number 91 creates intricate and striking pen & ink drawings using a variety of tools combined with watercolour.

Anne McAulayEdmond Though already exhibiting in London with her first attempt at Watercolour, Anne's first love is pencil drawing. After a lifetime’s working career, Anne has only been drawing for a very short time “for the joy of it!”.

Liz Wren

Liz's impressionistic, acrylic landscapes are mostly of Bute, the scenic beauty and the ever changing light a joy to capture. Such an inspiring island. She also works in watercolour and mixed media.

Susan studied at Glasgow School of Art and graduated with a BAHons in Textile Design.

Specialising in knitted textiles, she designs and makes accessories and homewares using quality wool and lambswool yarn. She draws inspiration from the rich maritime colours and textures of the Clyde coast.

Get�ng Around Bute: A regular bus service operates from Port Bannatyne to Kilchattan Bay that can be boarded at Guildford Square, opposite the Rothesay ferry terminal.

You can follow the trail in either direc�on - all roads lead back to Rothesay!
