WHAT’S ON IN BLACKPOOL A warm welcome to the home of entertainment where the shows, concerts and amazing free events just keep on coming! Inside this handy guide, you will find a month-by-month checklist of brilliant entertainment for all the family. With all of our venues and attractions fully open for the 2022 season, it promises to be a year to remember. There is nothing quite as special as live performance – and we have it in abundance! Whether you are looking for a large-scale musical extravaganza, laugh-out-loud comedy, drama to make your heart soar, or a spectacle of dance that will have your toes tapping, there’s a seat waiting for you. And do check out our major events programme which includes the return of the annual Air Show, Ride The Lights, World Fireworks and Lightpool Festival. Once again, our annual Illuminations season has been extended (until January 2, 2023) giving visitors an even bigger opportunity to experience what is often described as the greatest free show on earth. From mid-November onwards we will be getting into the festive mood with a very special programme of events and shows. So what are you waiting for? Blackpool has long enjoyed a special relationship with Britain’s armed forces. During the Second World War, it was home to one of the world’s largest military training centres with almost 800,000 recruits. Ready-made accommodation meant Blackpool was a natural base for billeted servicemen, relocated civil servants and thousands of evacuees. The resort evokes fond memories for those based here. That’s why we celebrate the contribution of them all over several days with a range of formal and informal events leading up to Armed Forces Day. We will be marking the occasion with a flourish, as we did in 2020 when our VE Day and Battle of Britain anniversary commemorations included lighting The Blackpool Tower in patriotic red, white, and blue.
