Writing has been an inseparable part of Kaitlyn's life since as early as she can remember. Different worlds and ideas would enthrall her she could go through them via stories. This reading love ignited an inclination towards writing her own story, resulting in the book Healing Is Messy AF. During her first master's program in Gender & Women's Studies, she opted for an autobiographical course. It showed her the power of storytelling and a way to reflect and connect. After some years, she attended a Women's Fund event where Jess Eckstrom's class where her words left a mark in Kaitlyn's mind as she took the leap of faith. She registered for her course and received the tools and confidence to start her book.

A longing for storytelling for quite some time, a belief to make mental health accessible, and a commitment to empower others complement her work.

Her undying passion to normalize mental health and diminish the stigma around it is applaudable.

A vital piece of advice shared by Kaitlyn for aspiring psychotherapists is the profession is sacred. It is a privilege and a responsibility as one gets to enter an individual's most intimate aspect and to walk alongside them when they are in pain. At the same time, witnessed them growing and being resilient due to the treatment provided. It is also draining emotionally, mentally, and sometimes physically, as the weight of the baggage is heavy to carry. Trust the process and give yourself a chance to enjoy the journey. Approach the work with humility and do not expect answers to all the questions when at the beginner's level. Kaitlyn believes therapy isn't being a life expert, but it is to be a guiding light, a mirror, and a source of protection.

This profession isn't just about healing others, but also being ready for a self-evolution. To be in the moment with the client, enjoying the process, and also being kind to yourself.

To stay updated Kaitlyn is a regular attendee of professional literature workshops, conferences and webinars. These avenues allow her to dive into the latest trends and upskill herself. Endorsements like EMDR have opened horizons of effective work in trauma and ongoing training in modalities like DBT and trauma-focused care. She also prioritizes collaboration and connection within the mental health community. She takes part in peer consultation groups and supervision to exchange ideas, discuss complex ideas, and gain newer ideas from colleagues.

Technology is also key in imparting information. Kaitlyn's relentless efforts to provide best to her clients makes her devote time to research newer techniques of care to stay relevant and forward-thinking in her work. She has also shared insights from this aspect in her book for people's learning and growth.

Leaving a Mark A legacy of authenticity, courage, and a desire to empower individuals around is what Kaitlyn wishes to leave behind. She aspires to be known via her books, her story, and gain valuable insights from her struggles, triumphs, and undying love for healing. She wishes her legacy to depict compassion, equity, and a commitment to dismantling the stigma surrounding mental health. The field should be looked upon as inclusive, and holistic healing with transforming the community and building human connections.

Kaitlyn wants her legacy to take the shape of people knowing they're never alone in their struggles. If she can leave a world where mental health is embraced and accepted as an essential part of life, then she will be more than satisfied.

The shifts will be transformative by 2030 in this profession which is long overdue, Kaitlyn believes. The future has incredible opportunities to prioritize health, and build communities and connections in the ways still unexplored. About her contribution, she will continue to advocate person-centered care. She also has plans to expand the horizons of being an author and keep promoting her field. This will be done by public speaking, writing, and community outreach while wishing to impart greater awareness to the community of clinicians who are compassionate about ethical, and innovative care.

The future of mental wellness is putting the health of the client at the frontlines while building a culture of connection, prevention, and wholeness. She can't wait to be a part of this transformation and to contribute to a field that has the power to change lives.
