LOS ABUELOS, UN TESORO

La semana pasada en nuestra familia tuvimos la bendición de recibir a una nueva bebita. Las fotos en las redes sociales fueron muchas, pero de todas una fue la más linda: la bebé siendo cargada por su tatarabuela de 95 años, ¡qué privilegio! La Biblia habla de los abuelos y lo hace frecuentemente, nos menciona que debemos honrarles, pero ¿te habías puesto a pensar que a ellos les da tarea? Por ejemplo, en Éxodo 10:2 nos dice que los abuelos deben contarle a sus hijos y a sus nietos sobre las grandes cosas que Dios ha hecho. Los abuelos tienen un papel muy importante en nuestra sociedad hoy en día y es muy triste que muchas veces son menospreciados o ignorados porque no saben manejar la tecnología o no van a la vanguardia, pero en verdad hay mucha sabiduría en sus palabras y en sus consejos. Ellos son personas que han tenido las experiencias que nosotros estamos por tener, en ellos hay lecciones aprendidas por las cuales nosotros muchas veces ¡estamos pagando!, si tan sólo los escucháramos más. Dios les pide que nos repitan sus obras, pero esa tarea queda incompleta si nosotros no los escuchamos. Descubramos juntos el gran regalo y tesoro que tenemos en cada abuelo y abuela, no importa que no sea tuyo, ¡escúchalo! POR

Last week in our family we had the blessing of receiving a new baby girl. The photos on social media where many, but of all one was the most beautiful: the baby being carried by her 95-year-old great-grandmother, what a privilege!

The Bible talks about grandparents and does it frequently, it mentions that we should honor them, but have you ever thought that it gives them homework? For example, in Exodus 10: 2 it tells us that grandparents should tell their children and grandchildren about the great things that God has done.

Grandparents have a very important role in our society today and it’s very sad that they are often belittled or ignored because they don’t know how to use technology or are not at the forefront, but there’s a lot of wisdom in their words and advice. They are people who have had the experiences that we are about to have, in them there are lessons learned for which we are often paying! If we only listened to them more.

God asks them to repeat their works to us, but that task is incomplete if we do not listen to them. Let’s discover together the great gift and treasure that we have in each grandfather and grandmother, it doesn’t matter that it is not yours, listen to it!

El principio Bíblico nos enseña que dar honra nos ennoblece y eleva nuestro nivel espiritual, ya que implica vencer nuestro orgullo al reconocer la importancia y la jerarquía de las personas y de los valores. Dar honra y honor de corazón, no sólo en apariencia, por obligación o por el interés en las promesas en relación con ellas, nos ayuda a entender el orden maravilloso de la creación, la relevancia de sus miembros y la necesidad de nuestra alma de mostrar respeto, consideración y aprecio en lo público y en lo privado, a nosotros mismos, nuestros cónyuges, nuestros progenitores y a nuestras autoridades. Sin embargo, este mandato se cumple en activo, es decir, se demuestra con acciones concretas como el amor a sí mismo, el amor y el respeto al prójimo y la obediencia a las autoridades establecidas dentro del diseño de Dios; no levantando falsos testimonios, no dañando reputaciones sin tener evidencias, no deshonrar ni aún al caído, honrando la magnificencia de la creación de Dios, cuidándola y siendo buenos administradores, manteniendo muy en alto nuestra capacidad de aceptación hacia lo que debe ser estimado y dimensionado a cabalidad. Finalmente honrar los valores que son los rectores de nuestra conducta, honrar lo que es verdadero, digno y honesto; no ponernos del lado de la mentira ni de la deshonestidad porque estaríamos honrando lo malo y a su fuente. No es fácil, pero el Espíritu Santo nos fortalece para lograrlo. Es parte de nuestro crecimiento espiritual.

The Biblical principle teaches us that giving honor ennobles us and elevates our spiritual level, since it implies overcoming our pride by recognizing the importance and hierarchy of people and values.

Giving honor from the heart, not only in appearance, by obligation or by the interest in the promises in relation to them, helps us to understand the wonderful order of creation, the relevance of its members and the need of our soul to show respect, consideration and appreciation in public and private, to ourselves, our spouses, our parents and our authorities.

However, this mandate is actively carried out, that is, demonstrated with concrete actions such as love of self, love and respect for neighbor and obedience to the authorities established within the God’s design; not raising false testimonies, not damaging reputations without having evidence, not dishonoring even the fallen, honoring the magnificence of God’s creation, caring for it and being good administrators, keeping very high our acceptance capacity towards what should be estimated and dimensioned fully.

Finally honoring the values that are the guiding principles of our conduct, honoring what is true, worthy and honest; not to side with lies or dishonesty because we would be honoring evil and its source.

It is not easy, but the Holy Spirit strengthens us to do it. It is part of our spiritual growth.
