Schools, Assisted Living and Pirates

MIAMI TRIP

While on this trip to Miami I had a very varied trip. I flew in on Monday and was off and running Tuesday. Kendall Christian School was my first stop on Monday. I shared several songs in the chapel service and was surprised by the 5th grade class who joined me on the stage for the ever requested Monster. They performed it pretty well for never practicing with me! As the show ended, I asked for requests and was given Ignition to be the final song. Two other students joined me from the audience and did an outstanding job! Props to Michael Ramos and Mrs. Blanco’s daughter for a grand performance! After the chapel, I went to Grand Lakes Assisted Living Facility. It was in North Miami Lakes and I must say I had a challenge finding it without a GPS! With minutes to spare, we tried to set up the ipod. To my chagrin, the connection was not working right and so we had to move to plan b and run it from another location. None of this phased the audience, who patiently waited. Once the performance began, as usual the faces and expression showed their surprise to what they were witnessing. Overall though, everyone enjoyed the show and was blessed that I came and shared about Jesus. One Wednesday I was slated to be at Highlands Christian School. This would be my second visit to their school. It was a great time and everyone loved the performance and

illustration on the “backpack of sin”, which I have used a few times in various locations now. My previous trip allowed me to be able to have the next opportunity to go to the Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. One of the girls from the school found a tumor on her spinal cord and she was to have surgery that week. My friends asked if I minded making a special visit with a personal performance. Of course I took the chance to be a blessing! We arrived and I did three songs for her family and we prayed together for Madison. Her surgery was this past Friday and all went well! We praise God for hearing and answering. Keep her in your prayers as the oncology reports comes this week. I had practice with the Miami WAVE team, which is growing tremendously! Last year they were praying for more guys and now they are here! God has blessed the team with a huge influx of young men who love Jesus and love V2H! On Friday, I had my last meeting of the week with Mike Liebler’s youth group kick-off. The theme was all about pirates. He had about 30 kids show up to launch the official start of his youth year. They gave away an ipod nano (wish I was part of the youth group), had a waterslide and had some instructional time for parents laying out the direction for the youth ministry. God used this trip in many ways to open new doors for the future ministry of V2H in Miami and I have to say it was a great week to be there!

Other Exciting V2H News! Recently Prince, a student we have sponsored in Nigeria called to inform me that he has taken his final college exams! He wanted me to share his sincere and heartfelt gratitude for your help in paying his school fees and making it possible for him to attend over the last few years. We are certainly proud of him and celebrate this grand occasion! I hope to have a personal letter from him soon. The WAVE conference is coming together very well and we are uber-excited about this year’s theme and direction! Continue to pray for the conference and make your plans now to attend October 7-9 at Stockbridge United Methodist Church. I have started a new blog and invite you all to subscribe at: www.vision2hear.wordpress.com This blog will be regularly updated and include various things from V2H. There will be devotionals to thoughtprovoking pictures. Check it out today! There is someone new living with me once again. His name is Nathan Smoker from

Baptist Church in Morehead City, NC. Nathan is 17 and has a heart to reach the kids who are on the fringe. He has a great story to share and he is giving himself to much prayer and Bible Study in preparing for the Lord’s service. he’s been here for a few weeks now and I can certainly see the growth and the Spirit of the Lord working in him. Most of you will get to meet him over the course of the next few months. We just celebrated 5 years of ministry in El Salvador and we are coming up on 10 years as a non-profit in the USA! We give God thanks and praise for all he has done over the years! Keep an eye out for our 10th year celebration. We are in the early stages of planning a gathering to celebrate this tremendous occasion. I’d love to have as many former V2H people present as possible! Tentative time is looking toward August 2012! Thanks for all of your prayers, love and support! I couldn’t do what I do without you! Sincerely, George
