AT THE HOTEL ROANOKE & CONFERENCE CENTER

A LETTER from the Conference Chair Welcome back!

I would like to invite all of my colleagues to join us at the VVMA Annual Conference at the historic Hotel Roanoke. The beautiful city of Roanoke offers an assortment of entertainment and dining opportunities to complement our fine continuing education meetings and offers attendees a great weekend. I hope that we have all managed to navigate the difficulties that we encountered during this pandemic. While last year's meeting was very successful and the continuing education sessions online were excellent, we missed the very important personal interaction with our colleagues and all of the sponsors, exhibitors and their teams of support staff. We have tried very hard to put together the best list of topics and speakers for our first, in-person Virginia Veterinary Conference since this pandemic arrived. Thursday morning, the VVMA Board of Directors will meet. Leaders from the AVMA and our neighboring VMAs will be present and update us on their respective organizations. Dean Dan Givens will also address the group with a veterinary school report. The conference kicks off on Thursday evening. At 5:00pm, we will have a presentation and panel discussion on the Potomac Regional Veterinary Coping, Resilience and Challenges

survey. The survey was conducted in an effort to address the impacts that the current pandemic has had on our profession and offer solutions to some of the problems we face as of a result of it. Immediately following the presentation, a Welcome reception will take place from 6:00-7:00pm. Light food and refreshments will be available and we hope you take this opportunity to reconnect with colleagues that you missed last year.

The exhibit hall opens Friday morning at 7:30am. Breakfast will be available in the exhibit hall for conference participants. During meal and snack breaks on Friday and through lunch on Saturday, please take the opportunity to visit all of the exhibitor and sponsor booths to see the great services and products they are offering. We could not have this great CE opportunity without all of the exhibiting companies' generous support. Dr. Cyndie Courtney will open as our keynote speaker on Friday at 8:00am, presenting "The Inefficiency of Overwork- The Science of Doing More with Rest." Continuing education continues at 9:50am, with an impressive list of speakers and topics presenting in several tracks including: small animal I, small animal II, public practice (Friday only), food animal, equine and technician. All of the committees did outstanding work in developing their respective parts of this

to our

meeting. Friday sessions end at 5:00pm and will be immediately followed by an Exhibitor Appreciation Reception from 5:00-5:40pm. Refreshments and snacks will be served. At 5:45-6:45pm, also in the exhibit hall, we will have the Virginia Veterinary Awards presentation. This is an exciting time to celebrate and recognize some of the outstanding representatives of our great profession. Saturday morning begins with a Devotional at 7:00am. The exhibit hall opens and breakfast will be available at 7:30am. CE sessions begin at 8:00am and conclude at 5:00pm. Lunch will be available Saturday in the exhibit hall and the hall will close after lunch. All of us in the VVMA are looking forward to seeing all of you at the 2022 Virginia Veterinary Conference. As always, we are grateful for your support and are sure that you will appreciate the great opportunities for education and quality time with friends and colleagues.

Sincerely,

Marty Betts, DVM Martin Betts, DVM VVMA President-Elect & 2022 Conference Chair

THE INEFFICIENCY OF OVERWORK THE SCIENCE OF DOING MORE WITH REST
