Our Daughter of The Soil International Spectrum Award

MistressOfCeremonyandHonoree JulietBodleypka"JulieMango"

Actress, Structural Engineer, Certified Life Coach, & Mental Health Advocate: Juliet Bodley, more popularly known as Julie Mango, hails from the parishes of Clarendon and Manchester and she is a mixture of Sugar & Spice and everything Christ. She attended Glenmuir Prep school and Manchester High School. Julie has been in the performing arts since the age of 12, when she was a part of the group called Ayaedeh. If you ask Michael Jackson if he likes music, he will say "I am music". For Julie, if you ask her, does she like the performing arts, her answer is "I am the performing arts". Julie served in the Jamaica Combined Cadet Force for over 20 years, through which she obtained her Private Pilots License at the age of 19.

Julie studied Structural Engineering at the University of Technology Jamaica and completed her Master's in Engineering Management at Florida International University.

She attained her John Maxwell Coaching Certification and is a Certified member of the John Maxwell Team. She worked as an Engineer in both corporate America and Jamaica with a short stint in the Jamaica Defense Force. Parallel to a successful career in Engineering, Julie suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder and she quotes: "I boldly say I am a 3-time suicide attempt survivor just to jolt persons into recognizing the gravity of such a statement. But I have to recognize that the stigma which I aim to eradicate is still alive and as such the subject of Mental Health, still has to be approached brazenly yet with caution." Julie began her journey to healing, with the help of a Professional Therapist and is now at a place where she not only wants to live, but Julie now aggressively advocates for Mental Health for Men, Women, & Children globally, irrespective of Race, Class or Creed. Julie believes "love is the answer" (a quote from her favorite Rastafari singer - Garnet Silk) and she professes Jesus Christ (Yeshua) as her Personal Lord & Savior.

Living Legend of Rock Steady Music Award

Honoree~WilburnTheodoreCole pka"StrangerCole"

Stranger Cole, also known as StrangeJah Cole (born Wilburn Theodore Cole, 26 June 1942) is a Jamaican singer whose long recording career dates from the early days of ska in 1962 through to the present (2023). He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, receiving the nickname "Stranger" because he resembled no one else in his family. Cole began his recording career with producer Duke Reid, scoring a hit with his 1962 debut, "Rough & Tough," a full-tilt ska number with a wild harmonica solo. His Louis Jordan revival song, "Run Joe," was a hit in 1965, and featured members of the Techniques on harmony vocals. Stranger frequently used duet partners, most notably Patsy

Todd and Ken Boothe, and later in his career, Gladstone Anderson (their version of "Just Like a River" is one of Cole's finest songs), stemming from an apparent shyness in the studio, but Cole developed into a soulful vocalist, and his songs radiate a kid of joyful personality that is rare in most reggae. Cole left Reid as the ska era waned, becoming sort of a maverick, cutting sides with several Jamaican producers, including Sonia Pottinger, Lee "Scratch" Perry (including the wonderful single, "Run Up Your Mouth"), and Bunny "Striker" Lee, before relocating to England in 1971, where he toured extensively. Cole moved to Toronto, Canada, in 1973, where he released three albums on his own label, The First Ten Years of Stranger Cole (1978), Captive Land (1980), and The Patriot (1982). In 2003, Trojan Records released Bangarang: The Best of Stranger Cole 1962- 1972, a long overdue retrospective of this fine Jamaican singer's career.

The Community Service & Business Development Achievement Award

Honoree~GarfieldClarke pka"ChefGarfield"

Garfield Clarke's commitment to keep his family fed surpassed expectations with the opening of Genesis, a go-to restaurant for lovers of Jamaican food in New York City. It is the norm for top Jamaican and rap acts to go to the Queens eatery for anything from curried goat to jerked chicken and steamed fish. Deejays Beenie Man, Shabba Ranks and Shaggy, as well as rappers Bizz Markie and LL Cool J, are regulars at Genesis. Chef Garfield, as Clarke is popularly known, is in his early 50s. He told the Jamaica Observer that the key to his restaurant's success is simple: An accomodating staff and the best in Jamaican cuisine. "I'm in a diverse community. One thing I can say about my restaurant is that it's a very warm and welcoming place and that is why I think whenever someone enters they decide to come back another time," he said. Genesis caters to a clientele that includes hospitals, schools, barbers, beauty salons and nursing homes.
