This will be the independent cinema chain’s third location after debuting the Violet Crown concept in Austin, TX in 2011 and expanding it to Santa Fe, NM in May of this year. The addition of Violet Crown brings film back to the already thriving Downtown Mall and provides the Charlottesville community with a premiere cinema experience in the heart of downtown.

Violet Crown Charlottesville’s 10 auditoriums feature state of the art technology, wall-to-wall screens, and large and luxurious cinema chairs. Violet Crown offers a wide variety of programming options including art, independent, foreign language, documentary and commercial or “blockbuster” films.

Tickets are now available for opening week movies. All seating is reserved and can be purchased at Violet Crown's website, www.violetcrowncinemas.com. A brief synopsis of confirmed titles are listed below.

In addition to traditional cinema concessions, Violet Crown Charlottesville includes a sit-down restaurant highlighted by chef prepared, locally sourced entrees and a full bar, located on each level of the cinema, with 38 rotating taps offering craft beer, wine, and cider, plus signature cocktails.

To preserve an uninterrupted movie-going experience, wait service is not offered inside the auditoriums.

Food and drinks purchased at the snack bar or restaurant are, however, permitted inside the auditoriums.

Violet Crown’s cinema chairs include custom-built retractable trays for in-theater dining convenience.

Violet Crown customers may receive a validation for up to four hours free garage parking in either the Market or Water Street parking garages.

Violet Crown Charlottesville welcomes the opportunity to have an enduring community impact as it looks to partner with local organizations to enhance creative opportunities for the citizens of Charlottesville.
