Scenicland Coal Trail Rally - 17th March Well, it’s all over and according to the feedback we are receiving, our Rally was a huge success. We had 110 registrations which is an amount to be envied by many Branches. People came from Auckland to Bluff, some were on their way to the Easter Rally at Invercargill and a Wellington group had a tour to the South Island planned and decided to include us in their itinerary, plus a good number of members from our southern branches. John and Janis Fensom along with the Committee put a lot of effort into the planning and are pleased it turned out so successful. You should have your latest Beaded Wheels by now, turn to page 8 and you will see a letter from Murray and Mary Jobberns, Marlborough Branch which is very gratifying. Lyn & John Rothery have provided a great account of the Rally which will be in the next Beaded Wheels. The prize winners were – First place
Terry & Carol Stretch, Canterbury Branch
Ray Dawe, Canterbury Branch
John Tremaine, Gore Branch
First West Coaster Home – Donna Lee
Note that the date for the April Club run has been altered to the 29th, which means the date in the Beaded Wheels Calendar of Events is now incorrect. Colin will send details out when he has made his final arrangements. If you miss Colin’s email, give Colin or David and I a ring (phone numbers above.)
We welcome the following new members to our Branch Linsey and Deborah Bennington from Greymouth. They own a 1973 Leyland P76. Also Nick Harrison who has transferred from Nelson Branch and is now living in Reefton. He owns a 1926 Chevrolet Superior K plus numerous other vehicles and bikes. Looking forward to meeting up with you on our Club events.
We farewelled Bob Baxter who passed away last month after a battle with illness. Bob was a dedicated Chevvy man and we have extended our sympathy to Lorraine and the family.
The AGM is coming up in June and we would really like to get some fresh blood on Committee. As previously mentioned, Colin wishes to hand the Club Captain’s title over to someone else. This is a position that could be shared quite easily and it is important to have a Club Captain (or Captains) to keep us up and running.
The Greymouth Rodders clubrooms (Anzac Park) are open on Fridays between 5pm – 7pm for a social get together. This is BYO and members of our Branch are invited.
Word has it that we have another green Model A coming to the Branch. This time a 1929 Ford Sedan and (clue) it is going to live in Reefton. Also, our Branch Chairman Allan has been very busy. The day after the Scenicland Rally, he and Maria shot up to Nelson to take possession of an Austin 7 which he will debut at the Rosco Sporting Trials AND he has been to Dunedin and brought home a TAKA 100cc farmbike. Nostalgia here as that was the first bike he owned.
Take note of the following new details for the contact numbers at the Canterbury Branch parts shed… Ross Butler
