KM Ford Project This project is making good headway as the final parts and services are starting to be completed. The guards for the project have arrived and at the present time the process of aligning and fitting them, including making the associated supports, is taking place. The bending of the windscreen and ‘Top’ support frame steelwork is complete. The balance of the brass pipe for the windscreen frame has also arrived which means the windscreen frame can now be completed. Graham Boswell is investigating how best to get the completed car into the final position in the Katherine Mansfield Garden. This project has been carried out by a very enthusiastic group of volunteers. It would appear that there are a number of Branch Members of the understanding that the K M Ford project is being funded by the Branch. Such an understanding is incorrect. The project is NOT being funded by the Branch. The project is being funded entirely by the Friends of Hamilton Gardens Inc. in the main from cash donations received from individuals, donations of parts/time/services/expertise etc. in the main from Branch members, and from sponsorship in the form of goods and services or cash from businesses located mainly in the greater Waikato region. The car is expected to be in position by May. It will be slightly raised off the ground on four piles. As a stationery display, it has been built of materials which are able to withstand weather and children. Its construction is part original Model “T “parts, some fabricated parts and some parts imported from the US.
