Chairman’s Report March 2018 I’ve been and had a look around the club’s grounds prior to the Festival Rally and I’d have to say they are looking pretty good (with no contribution from me, I must say). A thank you from those of us that couldn’t make the working bee has to go to all of you who gave up time. The only blot on the scene was the skid marks around the car park and the HPP grounds from the yahoos who seem to think that they have a drifting circuit. I went to the RSA for the Diggers Run on Saturday 17th and after a natter with the others who turned up Ken said that some of the RSA members had pulled out, meaning that we had too many cars for the number going for the ride. Bill Sheddan and I decided that we would not go and went home, which for me at least means that I still have a full tank of fuel for the Festival Rally the following weekend. The only thing is that it’s frustrating for Ken having spent time and fuel drawing up a run only to have such a small number interested in coming along. The question needs to asked, “Has the Diggers Run come to an end through lack of interest or do we need to change the format?” Maybe open it up for older members (not just returned personnel, their wives and partners), please give it some thought. Anyway, thanks Ken I’m sure those who did go enjoyed themselves. Paul Herron, our National Veteran Rally organiser, has reminded us that the year 2020 is now not that far away and we need to start sorting out the event. To that end he is asking for members who are interested in helping to contact him. At the last meeting there was just Paul and his wife Lynne. Having been part of the Easter Rally committee some years ago, I found that it’s rewarding to know that I was part of the team that made it work. So get in touch with Paul if you can help. Happy Motoring. Murray 4
