Chairmans Report:
It’s raining cats and dogs at the moment so I guess it’s a good time to write a few lines for the magazine. We intended going to the Te Aroha Cruise in today with Steve and Joy and Bevan and meeting up with Keith and Margaret from Pukekohe, but the weather isn’t that great for travelling or viewing classic cars, so it was decided not to go, not to worry we have had a couple of interesting runs this month.
Paeroa Vintage Weekend and swap meet: Steve and Joy took a group of Members once again through the back roads to Te Aroha and onto Paeroa on Friday 16th September for the weekend event, where they met up with Keith and Margaret who had driven down from Pukekohe to join them.

Gail and I along with Lytle and Marlene joined them for the day on Saturday. There was a good display of vehicles of all makes and models parked up, but I guess the organisers under estimated the amount of display vehicles for the size of the parking space, so many had to park on the road. So it was good to see there were more vehicles than what they expected. Along with the swap meet it was a great day out and a great weekend for those that stayed.
On Sunday 25th September Barry and Marianne Spry took us on a run to Galatea to visit the two Steiner museums. First was Eric’s place with his great collection of beer cans placed all around the walls of his museum. He knows where each group of cans are and he has some great stories of their history and how he came to have them.
Eric also has a great collection of Classic Fords and one Leyland Mini Clubman, asked why a Mini and that was another good story. But stuck in the corner was this little old car, a 1906 Ford Model N, one of only a few left worldwide.

It’s great to see such a rare vehicle in our area
Thanks to Eric for showing us his collection and all of his contracting machinery and tractor collection. Then it was across the road to view Alf Steiner’s museum and collection of tractors, stationary engines and models.

By this time we were hungry, but it was hard to get away from such an interesting collection. We gave James in the Morris 8 Sports a head start to Aniwhenua, our lunch stop.
It’s amazing how fast that little car can go with a hungry driver, when we got to the lunch stop, James was already there eating his lunch.
After lunch and a chin wag it was off home.
Thanks to Barry and Marianne for arranging this great day out. Continued . . .

Paeroa Vintage Weekend Article and Photo’s by Joy
On Friday 16th September we had 3 Classic cars and 2 moderns heading to Paeroa in beautiful sunshine,

our first stop was Fitzgerald Glade Café for morning tea then on over lovely country roads to the Te Miro Bike Park for a late lunch break, then onto Paeroa where Keith and Margaret Watson joined us.
On Saturday Les, Gail, Lytle and Marlene came through for the day, John Twaddle was also there so we had 9 members. There were so many cars they couldn’t find enough parks, they were everywhere on the road and grass vergers. It was an amazing turnout and great weather.
Joy.
