After a great sleep in peaceful surroundings, we shared a delicious breakfast and then shared our views on the weekend. The girls closed with a moving waiata before saying our goodbyes and travelling back in convoy to the main highway. Some comments made from participants were:

Below: Beautiful waterfall we walked to see. We all soaked our feet in it after our hike through the bush.

“An experience not to be missed.” “A very emotional time in the real NEW ZEALAND.” “Great to have a complete break from electronic devices and phones. No cell phone reception here.” “This experience was not plastic tourism but authentic New Zealand.” “You won’t find this on Booking.com.” Thank you to the Waitemata VCC for inviting Taupo VCC members along to this special event. We were privileged to attend as numbers are limited to about 12. This event is run yearly by the Waitemata VCC and usually takes place about the 3rd weekend in January. Cost this year was $140 per head. If you think you might like to join in this experience next year, let me know, and I can give you more details. It is not for the faint hearted but is a wonderful experience. You need a high clearance vehicle….minis, etc. would not handle the road. Tony and Pam Mannington. FEBRUARY 2019
