B a p t i s m S u n d ay An update from Brazil

We were honored again to have another baptism at our church! Similarly to Vineyard Columbus, the church gets so excited for baptisms; the worship band plays and sings while lots of people run to the front to get a better view and take pictures. I know I have mentioned this many times, but I love the symbolism of letting the person be completely immersed in water- being baptized into Jesus’ death on the cross and no longer being slaves to self or sin. When we raise them up out of the water, they are raised into a new life in Christ and are with Him forever. We are so grateful and we praise the Lord for these nine people who made this public declaration of faith. Each of the people being baptized wore a shirt saying “I Decided” and we love being part of the journey to support this decision.

F o r e v e r Fa m i ly A story from our Middle Eastern Worker

Five years ago, I had the chance to live with a family in North Africa for a week. They didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Arabic; it was a challenging week but a week full of joy. I recently had the privilege to visit this family again while on a visa run. I was nervous they wouldn’t recognize me, yet the second I stepped out of the car, I was greeted with hugs and kisses and many “Alhamdulillah’s” (Praise the Lord). With all of the extended family living in the same house, we went through old photo albums and they showed the little ones how I, their “Auntie”, had visited them when they were babies. I went with the expectation to research for our medical clinic and was blessed with visiting this forever family once again; it was the sweetest visit and the Lord exceeded my expectations once again.

A C a l l t o P r ay e r A story from Central Asia The other day, I sat with a Muslim friend, “F”, who I have known for about 10 years, along with four guests from America. “F” was vulnerably sharing about she often does not feel respected because every time she meets with these “evangelists”, they try to manipulate and convert her. She shared how she felt like her beliefs were causing harm to come onto her family and that they made her feel guilty and punished because she is not a Christian. Family photos were passed around and hard topics of fear, depression, and anger came up. “F” shared her heart’s longing for peace within her home. At the end of the time together, our guests asked if we could pray with “F”; we joined hands and did so in a way that was gentle, non-demanding, and genuinely loving. We asked the Prince of Peace to come into “F”’s home in a way that would be felt and encouraging, leaving no room for fear, depression, or anger. So often, we talk about praying for others, but in this moment, we each felt the call to pray for our dear friend and I believe she experienced the Lord’s peace as we did so.

darkness, it will never stop, and survivors will never know the truth that will set them free from the lies that keep them in bondage. Victims need their own voice to break free from their silent pain. But they also need your voice. They need my voice. Together, our voices become one voice, one that rings loud and clear as it speaks words of love and truth, of validation, acceptance, and comfort. Our voice will penetrate the darkness to expose sexual abuse and trafficking for exactly what it is. Our voice will lead wounded hearts to a safe, open place of healing. And as we speak out, our voice will reduce the risk of abuse for the next person, and the next child, and the next.”
