Vinehall is committed to nurturing potential scholars and providing them with the opportunities and support necessary to excel in their chosen fields. Scholars at VinehallareautomaticallyenrolledontoaspecialistScholars’Programme,ensuring thateachpupilreceivestailoredguidancetodeveloptheirtalentstothefullest.
Scholarsareassignedadedicatedsupervisorwithwhomtheymeetregularly.Their supervisor assists in balancing the demands on their time, aligning expectations with those of their teachers, and managing the wide range of commitments that many of our scholars have. The supervisor also provides ongoing feedback and reporting.Scholarshipsarereviewedannuallyandarecontingentuponsatisfactory performanceandcommitment.
Alimitednumberofawardsaregranted,andcompetitionishighduetothemany applicationsofexceptionalquality.Whilethecriteriadetailedinthefollowingpages are provided to help families determine whether to apply, they serve as guidelines ratherthansuccesscriteria.

AcademicAssessment
TheAcademicscholarshipapplication processisacombinationofacademic testing(includingonlinecognitive abilitytestsanda30-minutewritten Englishpaper),aninterviewwitha memberoftheLeadershipTeam.
ArtAssessment
Prospectivecandidateswillbeasked tobringtotheassessmentaselection oftheirartwork,whichdemonstratea rangeofskills.Ontheday,candidates willbeaskedtositadrawingtest, lastingonehourandthirtyminutes. Duringthistime,theywillbeaskedto

DramaAssessment
Candidateswillberequiredtoperformanactedauditionpieceof theirownchoice(amaximumofthreeminutes)totheDirectorof Drama.Thispieceshouldbefromapublishedplaysotheycan discussthecharacterandcontextofthemonologueatinterview. Thesceneshouldbememorisedanddeliveredwithafull awarenessoftheimportanceofvocaltechnique,aswellas physicalresponse(facialexpression,movement,gesture,posture). Candidateswillalsosight-readapieceofunseentext.Theywillbe expectedtodiscusstheirinterestindramaandwhytheyhave appliedforthescholarshipinaninterviewwiththeDirectorof Drama.
MusicAssessment
Duringthemusicassessment,candidateswillbeexpectedto performtwocontrastingpieces,scalesappropriatetotheirGrade anddiscusstheircurrentmusicalexperiences.Candidatesare usuallyexpectedtosing,andauralandsight-readingtestsmay alsobegiven.
SportAssessment
Candidatesmustprovideasummaryoftheirsporting achievementstodate,alongwithreferencesfromcoacheswhere appropriate.Assessmentswillinvolvefitnessandagilitytestsas wellasanumberofgames-basedscenarios,todemonstratetheir positionalandtacticalawareness,aswellastheirskill,agility,and fitnesslevelswhichwillbeobservedbytheDirectorofSport.
