Bollinger Bollinger Rosé NV (gift boxed) Style – Rich and bright. Aromas of bright red fruit complex into orange and clove spice as well as toast and smoke, thanks to some impressive red wine added to the blend. The palate’s dazzling energy carries flavours of wild strawberries and cherries, but also the zing of grapefruit pith. As always with Bollinger, there’s depth, concentration and a subtle tannic structure. A f ine and beautifully balanced non-vintage rosé champagne. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

Ayala Ayala Brut Majeur Style – Fresh yet vinous. This is a balanced blend of 45% chardonnay, 35% pinot noir and 20% meunier. The result is crisp while not too dry, and therefore drinkable as an apéritif. Apple and bright citrus combine with green plums to give a fruity wine that is also structured. Dosage continues to reduce so there is a crisp, tight aftertaste. - Wine Enthusiast

Louis Roederer Louis Roederer Collection 242 (gift boxed)

Louis Roederer Blanc de Blancs 2014 (gift boxed) Normally $165

$149 42% chardonnay, 36% pinot noir, 22% meunier. 10% reserve wine aged in oak from 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2011 and 2009. 34% perpetual reserve from 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012. 34% malolactic fermentation. Dosage is 8g/L. The nose is pronounced; fronting with lemony freshness, creamy, then with sweet summer fruits and ginger spice. On the palate, it’s rich and succulent, loaded with mineral energy and malic tension, and drives some intense red and yellow fruits with just a little apple peel bitterness. It f inishes in a crescendo of salty mineral verve and a subtle impression of dry extract. Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

"Here we are right in the middle. 2008 was more soil and 2012 was more sunshine. But 2013 is the ideal target. It's super elegant - there's some extra flavour as well as saltiness." Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon, Chef de Caves, on the merits of Cristal 2013 4

Pol Roger Pol Roger Brut Reserve Style – Pure and precise Pol Roger’s ‘white foil’ is one of the great classic non-vintage champagnes, carefully balancing power and lightness in a masterful blend championed by pinot noir. It marries zesty freshness and a delicate mousse with the structure of black grapes and some subtle development such as sticky pastries, a slick of melted butter and grilled nuts. Delicious as an apéritif or food wine.

Ayala No. 7 Brut 2007

Bollinger B13

Bollinger PN VZ 16

66% chardonnay and 34% pinot noir using fruit sourced from seven grand crus: Chouilly, Oger, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Avize (for chardonnay), as well as Ay and Verzy (for pinot noir). Tirage under cork. 6g/L dosage.

100% pinot noir from five crus (focused on Ay and Verzenay), 7 years on lees, 6g/L dosage.

100% pinot noir. 2016 makes up 50% of the blend with the rest coming from reserves going back to 2006, some of which were matured in magnum. There’s stainless steel and oak vinification. 4 years on lees. Dosage is keen at just 6g/L.

The nose is perfectly golden with its rich orchard fruit and toasty aromas, as you might well expect from 2007. There is also a hint of reductive smoke thanks to the f irst-rate origins of its pinot noir. But the palate is where it’s all happening. A full-bodied style with rich flavours and pert acidity. Fruit – grilled pineapple and tangerine – make way for brioche and even sugar-coated almonds, bringing a sweet lift to the finish. Dosage is kept low, at just 6g/L, so sweetness is born of vintage, not necessarily sugar. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

This champagne really is exciting and extraordinary for a blanc de noirs due to its radiant citrus profile, finesse and elegance – something that can be lacking in this style The nose is developing with a typical Bollinger-style richness, layered with smoke and grilled peaches. On the palate, there’s a sharp orange/lemon citrus attack and full-throttle rush of saltiness, followed by a creamy texture from extended time on lees. Spare the bottle another day and see how the palate softens and silkens, the acidity becomes less obvious and more elegant. Fruit and phenolics build with intensity from the mid to back palate, pushing length far. A wonderfully fresh and moreish champagne that will go down as one of the great blanc de noirs. Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

The philosophy here is to showcase Bollinger’s best pinot noir crus (in this case Verzenay but also Avenay and Tauxières) and a particular year (2016), though it’s not a vintage. This is a paradox champagne of delicacy and tension brimming with apple rhubarb tartness, red apple crunch and ginger biscuit deliciousness. Add time in the glass and there’s preserved lemon and cooked fruit and a generous and creamy texture. Fantastic. Wonderfully harmonious. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

Rosé Champagne Mixed Case $765

Ayala Rosé Majeur

Bollinger Rosé NV

Delicate notes of gooseberries and raspberries arise from the blend which includes a small amount of red wine, crafted exclusively from pinot noir from Aÿ, Grand Cru characterised by its generosity.

A fine and beautifully balanced non-vintage rosé Champagne.

Pol Roger Vintage Rosé 2012 The deep salmon and copper hues of this excellent rosé provides all the visual fodder for an immensely satisfying Champagne. The nose, with its display of rich and generous berry fruits, minty freshness and black pepper spice, is a precursor to the palate’s baritone notes. Expect a ‘dripping down your chin’ juiciness offset by racy acidity and taut structure laced with chalky refinement.

Pierre Gimonnet Rosé de Blancs Golden-amber colour with tinge of rose-gold. The bouquet has smoked meats and charcuterie, with roasted hazelnuts and lots of layers, including some sherry aldehydes. Very mellow, mature and complex. Dry f inish, too. Lots of reserve wine apparent. A delicious drink. - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Louis Roederer Vintage Rosé 2014 Always one of the more elegant rosé champagnes on the market, Louis Roederer’s 2014 saignée rosé is different to its 2013 predecessor with its creamier and deeper fruit profile, an oceanic year resulting in particularly good chardonnay. Roederer’s signature technique is to add chardonnay juice to the pinot noir maceration and then co-ferment which is unusual in Champagne. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE

Chartogne-Taillet Le Rosé Steeped raspberry and almond skin aromas and flavors are framed by zesty acidity in this distinctive version, while the fine mousse provides a creamy cloak for the firm structure, carrying accents of pink grapefruit pith, ground anise, minerally saline and chalk. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Blanc de Blancs Grower Case $535

Philippe Glavier Genesis NV x 2

Voirin-Jumel Blanc de Blancs NV x 2

Glavier’s flagship, Genesis, is most emblematic of their style. The nose is all about seaspray and the palate, creamy and feather-light, stuns with radiance and ref inement. It’s paradoxically rich and complex as well as tensile with chalky/saline minerality. Proportions are weighted toward Le Mesnil and Avize with a little under 40 percent reserve wine. It is this combination that propels the palate’s enthralling freshness and purity. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

This is a super-fresh and lively style, with a tensile quality that keeps everything focused and driven. On the nose, it speaks loudly of its grand cru origins, with bright citrus, florals and cool mineral notes. The palate is alleviated from its strong mineral grip by some nice mid-palate fruit intensity and light creaminess borrowed from Cramant. The finish is of medium length. A really enjoyable aperitif-style champagne that is also one of the best value for money. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

Pierre Gimonnet Cuis 1er Cru x 2 From the land of great chardonnay comes a remarkable blanc de blancs of tremendous energy and precision. It brings together f ive vintages, three years on lees, and small dosage to make its chalky origins shine with enthralling tension and freshness. Allow a moment or two and notice how it transforms into an apple blossom beauty with incredible length.

R. Pouillon Brut Réserve x 2

Chartogne-Taillet Sainte Anne x 2

Brine and bread dough, fresh strawberry and apple, nutty oxidative notes. It’s firm with a lemony tang, some chalk to the texture and savoury flavours, intensity and plenty of zip through the finish. Complexity and energy. - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

Absolutely stunning champagne for its complexity, value and soulfulness. Rich and creamy on the palate, with tons of resonance, the Cuvée Ste.-Anne is absolutely impeccable. Dried orchard fruit, spice, pastry, baked apple tart and lemon confit all infuse the Cuvée Ste.-Anne with striking complexity and depth. I can’t think of too many champagnes that deliver this level of quality for the money. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Chartogne-Taillet Le Rosé x 1 Sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint and touch of oak sweetness gives it a striking raciness and texture. This is such a pretty and distinctive rosé. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Louis Roederer Vintage 2013 x 2

Harmonious and straight with clarity and beauty to the wine. Cooked-apple and light honey aromas and flavors. Full body. Such balance and creaminess to the texture and weight. Lovely now. - James Suckling

Louis Roederer’s trademark delicacy and elegance is heightened in the 2013 vintage. The nose is restrained, creamy and with subtle spice and sugared almonds. The attack is delicate, but not at all dull. It’s fresh but in a restrained way, presenting a smooth texture and elegant structure with finely integrated bubbles. A delicious fruit profile, notably white peach and orange, adds intensity and subtle weight to this otherwise pure and saline champagne of unearthly harmony. - Sara Underdown, VINE & BUBBLE Magazine

Floral and smoke notes provide an aromatic overtone for this vibrant champagne, with the lacy mousse carrying flavors of honeycrisp apple, salted almond, lemon curd and glazed apricot, followed by a lightly spiced, mouthwatering finish. - Wine Spectator

The 2014 Brut Spécial Club Cramant Grand Cru is another super-impressive wine in this range. It emerges from the Bateau, Gromonts, Buissons, Bauves, Bionnes, Champ du Prévôt and Briquettes lieux-dits. Orange conf it, tangerine oil, white flowers, graphite and lightly tropical fruit infuse the Cramant with tremendous complexity to match its powerful personality. The Cramant is a rich, heady Champagne with a feeling of structure that leans towards the realm of Pinot. I loved it. Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
