Approximately 4 – 5 K years after an unknown extinction event has permanently transformed Earths nature into an extreme environment rendering organic life impossible. Humans have left their home to seek for other planetary habitats elsewhere. You have returned to unravel the truth.

Д L I V Ξ plays 5000 years from now, on post-apocalyptic Earth and is a sci-fi horror RPG driven by a mind shattering story.

You have to unravel the terrifying details of a long forgotten past and defend yourself against unknown threats.

GAME CONCEPT:

Д L I V Ξ is a third person survival RPG. The player is to be searching for CLARITY. The player is controlling several switchable exoskeletons and is exploring an open world for resources and sites to investigate.

MAIN LOOP: Exploration, scavenging resources and retrieving data from servers.

Learning the narrative.

SECONDARY LOOP: Fighting BOSS entities called CONSUMERS to loot for resources and weapons.

TERTIARY LOOP: Self-replicating through consuming resources. Once the player has collect a certain defined amount and a combination of resources, asexual reproduction is an option.

Self-replicated CARRIERS can be switched on demand, resulting in a different gameplay experience depending on the playable character defined by the CARRIER. GOAL: Learn all fragments about the hidden story and get scared by the horrific bosses.

INFO-STREAM: An unknown entity is communicating to the player via data stream – giving orders, advice, information and guidance via audio.

Also data can be retrieved from different locations. These contain either video or audio files describing the back story in the past and explaining the current perceived reality.

ARSENAL: You start the game with no weapons.

The further you progress the more advanced the weapons become. In chapter II you receive a spear then a sword and then a projectile weapon.

SETUP – AN INTRODUCTION to the world of ALIVE Earth. Approx. 4 – 5 K years after an extinction level event, the surface of Earth is covered with fossilized ruins and wreckage of a now long extra-terrestrial interplanetary human species evolved to surpass their physical restraints.

Earths environment is no longer life supporting.

Unsouled grown bio-mechanical exoskeletons and archived ancient consciousness in a stasis mode are the only remainder of human life on earth.

These CARRIER exoskeletons are stored deep within bunkerlike structures beneath caverns filled with data-servers and hydro-power plants. Self sustaining they have served their purpose for ages: to store digitalized versions of once human consciousness on organic-based data-servers.

Human language transformed into thought data streams. Only networked agents to actually understand the coded content.

Those data streams are infinite and stored decentralized.

The player is to be searching for CLARITY. An unknown entity is communicating to the player via data stream – giving orders, advice, information and guidance.

CLARITY is reached by uncovering data records from a sunken past stored in DATA CATTLE drifting in the dead oceans, or in space wreckage hidden on Earth surface. Below it can be retrieved from ancient data-servers storing EGO-uploads and TIME FRAGMENTS. EGO-UPLOADS: Duplicating human consciousness as a means of creating a digital back up.

Human civilization was at its peak when an elitist group of Biologists had created a process to isolate, extract and copy human consciousness to organic data storage systems.

Singularity was reached. Humans no longer humans – but a species unleashed from their physical restraints.

The method involved genetic engineering, permanently changing the human genom over 3 generations and intentionally infecting a host with a synthetic virus that would dissolve tissue cells and only leave behind neurological structures where scientist located the human GHOST. This lead to what later was known as the EGO-crisis: Since human cloning had been become a standard procedure several generations before, it was common for individuals to hold a stock of clones in stasis mode as an organic back up. The elite – known as the BIOLOGISTS – the ruling class of society – where the instance in control cloning and providing access to organic back ups to those in need. Life almost extended infinitely. Only consciousness prone to brittle in the face of time.

When EGO-Uploads were introduced and becoming a usual practice, only the elitist groups of BIOLOGISTS were in control of the newly developed technology. They became god like beings – ideal constructions of what limitless life could become.

Lower classes with no access to this newly created technology accumulated their reactive fears and rage in hostile terror groups called ENDERS. They collectively tried and succeeded to attack the BIOLOGISTS many times.

During one of their offenses on a BIOLOGISTS laboratory they killed dozens of scientists, thereby crippling their facilities. During the attack the novel artificial virus accidentally escaped the controlled lab-environment infecting an unaware group of ENDERS. The civil ware remained constant and ongoing. Lower class ENDERS insurging against the scientists of the BIOLOGISTS. The first infected offspring were the nightmarish harbingers of a dying species. After the ENDERS were the first to be infected with the uncontrolled virus, their spouses and children were the patients zero.

The terror and panic caused by the first wave of GHOST births ≈ 3 K a.c. represented the beginning of the downfall of mankind - whose existence could only be threatened by itself.

EXTINCTION EVENT: The then uncontrolled virus cultured by human hands had invaded our DNA resulting in a permanent mutation of the human genome. It became endogenous.

Humans cloned or conceived with the newly transformed DNA were affected before birth.

In the human fetal state cells dividing to form tissue were decomposed by the virus‘ genetics, leaving only a nervous system and its inherent GHOST to grow in the womb. The human soul – or at least what made it – had become the virus's host – rather than the human body.

Humans born bodiless. Mankind sterile.

A mutation of the virus had caused it to re-build living tissue from available molecular resources in the environment. It constructed a more efficient lifesupporting vessel in order to protect its hosts GHOST from the ever growing toxicity of Earths environment. The virus thereby created functioning exoskeletons engulfing the infected hosts nervous system in uterus or in vitro. A chrysalis like structure forming a shell.

The last mothers of mankind were giving birth to obscene constructs of insect like encasements in which the last remainder of humanity – a brain stem and nervous system were growing controlled by the virus‘s genetic atrocious and callous egoism.

The virus had induced the created exoskeletons to reproduce asexually. – thus creating copies of themselves. These vessels were called CARRIERS. The virus thereby made use of a means of replication without being in need of an infections chain via hosts organisms. It had recreated it‘s own body – obscurely enlarged and self-sustaining. the FINAL EVAC: Upper class society tried their most cruel and inhuman methods to isolate the mutated virus in order to prevent mankind wide permanent infertility. Whole countries were locked in – quarantined – and then exterminated. Antimatter projectiles intended to counter possible extraterrestrial threats, were used to wipe out what could become the certain end of mankind on Earth.

Very few infected escaped the quarantine zones (QZs) by hiding in automated outbound organic waste transports overfilled with corpses to be used in bio-matter plants.

The uninfected society mobilized to flee the Earth's surface to an orbital living structure that was in the midst of construction when the first infected children were born as GHOSTs. Politically "self" motivated mass suicides became a standard procedure for countries to limit the number of people to be evacuated - those EGOs who willingly chose physical death were uploaded to the orbital habitat as a promised reward. „Your EGOs are hailed as heroic and sacred — for eternity“. These were later known as HEROEGOs. As the last uninfected left the stained surface of the Earth, the orbital links were severed and hurled to Earth.

No ship left behind. No uplink provided. Resources plundered and nature forever poisoned. the LAST ONES: Those unseen surviving non-infected were left behind without any option to connect with their former rulers. In madness grasp they dwelled in their mountainous settlements. Wasting away only soon to be diminished by famine and suicide wave after suicide wave.

The leaders of ENDERS were among the very last people on Earth. So filled with anger and hatred for the oppressors in orbit, that they didn't dare kill themselves until they had at least tried to kill the others.

And they tried. And tried. And tried. And by mere chance prevailed.

A scrap-built ship, crewed by an ENDERS leader and loaded with a fusion bomb, roared through the orbital defense system, striking the heart of the decadent space habitat, ending the perverse structure and its inhabitants once and for all.

Bodies and wreckage, data and resources fell from the sky – filling the atmosphere with explosions, lighting and thunder – toxic gases, chemical dust – all of it

8. diminishing what was left of organic life on Earth for ever.

Then Earth was left to itself. Only autonomous data-servers floating around in the oceans – self-replicating physical back-ups attacking other opposing data-servers – were inhabiting what once was the cradle of life.

The mountains hollowed by self sustaining data-servers systems storing ancient EGO-backups in hydro-powered stasis – sleeping and dreaming of nothingness.

Only few excesses of bizarre virus born EXO skeletons roaming the inhabited Earth. GHOSTless, without will, unaware and with an ever growing insatiable hunger. These perpetual tormented beings were later known as CONSUMERS. RESULTING GAME MECHANICS: As a result of the back story the major game mechanic of ALIVE is being able to shift from one CARRIER to another.

These exoskeletons are either found in game or can be generated after consuming enough resources.

Each CARRIER therefore brings without different attributes and arsenal.

Hence there is no in game up leveling, inventory nor item loot.

Braking the 4th wall: The camera actually is a following drone type that works as a EGO-backup. In Chapter II there will be a cut scene in which the player is protecting the camera drone from a CONSUMER’s attack. These two entities (drone and CARRIER) are connected via an optical modem and constantly mirror consciousness. The follow drone is connected to a satellite-uplink from which data is streamed to the CARRIER via the drone.

This allows for an organic HUD that just pops up like an augmented reality interfaces. Main parts of the UI however are in the CARRIER‘s exoskeleton itself. Visible on the back – showing as bio luminescent lights and indicating the health and resource status of the CARRIER. CHANGING CARRIERS: Later in Chapter II the player finds himself in the position to switch CARRIERS when necessary.

Chapter I begins with a nautical CARRIER, that allows for fast omnidirectional traversal beneath the oceans surface.

The player begins Chapter II within a „pregnant“ CARRIER. This chapter allows the player to multiply CARRIERS through collecting resources thus kicking-off asexual reproduction.

Once more than one offsprings are accessible for the drone to downstream or mirror the EGO to, the player can switch CARRIERS on demand.

Chapter III introduces an aerial CARRIER type that can be accessed at any given moment. In it‘s unGHOSTED state the aerial exoskeleton follows the player in a distance of 13th feet.

CARRIERS: Exoskeletons grown by an endogenous human-made virus to protect its host. These CARRIERS have been made accessible for EGO-up- and downloads. The entire physical presence of a CARRIER is newly generated every time a life cycle begins. This results in different functions, abilities and looks.

CARRIERS are able to breed asexually – depending on the resources they consume.

One finds them stored in a stasis state in different locations around the globe.

CONSUMERS: Only very few of these hybrids exist in an active state and are mostly mutated to bizarre hyper aggressive bio mass consumers reproducing on a hive like level.

These entities called b however have lost 100 % of consciousness, are unaware and unable to communicate. Some are large as a tiger. Some larger than a tank.

They are normally bi- or quadrupedal.

You as the player have to exterminate CONSUMERS for 3 reasons: 1.

To reach CLARITY you have to protect data sources from being destroyed by CONSUMERS only to be salvaged for chemical resources 2.

Destroying them to gather resources yourself 3.

To protect your offspring CARRIERS from becoming but resources for CONSUMERS THE PLOT: your CONTROLLER is a leader of a revolutionary political opposing terror group that is revolting against the elitist leadership of the remaining interplanetary human species galaxies away. They are trying to cause a change of leadership by uncovering truth (CLARITY) long believed lost and forgotten for many generations. They have used your HERO-EGO backup and tricked you into submitting your whole existence to them. Your consciousness transferred via the ancient re-activated remaining upload links to Earth.

CLARITY: In the game you uncover that the virus was introduced into evolution by human interference to allow storing digital copies of human consciousness and identity. Most infected were turned infertile – offspring born as GHOSTS – inanimate masses of neural matter.

However mutations of this virus have found a way of re-constructing and taking over the hosts GHOST for it‘s survival benefits. Some turned downlink accessible CARRIERS others hostile destructive CONSUMERS by evolution.

Chapter I 5

SCREENPLAY CHAPTER I CINEMATIC 1.1.:

EXTERIOR SHOT: AERIAL SHOT (horizontal): Dim grey light. Almost black clouds cover the sky. A lightning storm in the far distance lighting up grotesque distant silhouettes of ruins.

CAMERA TURNS DOWN AND SLOWLY FALLS TO: AERIAL SHOT (down) > a symmetric vessel is drifting and swaying in a moving black liquid mass that is covered with technical debris – fragments of a space station are hardly recognizable. There is space junk everywhere. In between and under it float pale green organic masses – presumably sickly plants.

CAMERA ZOOM IN > 3/4 VIEW on a part of a nautical exoskeleton (a mixture of a marine mammal like organism and a military grade ROV) which is wired into a docking station in the center of a military autonomous drone vessel. Bio luminescent eyes activate and shimmer in a greenish tone.

SLOWLY ZOOMING OUT to third person view> the nautical exoskeleton is activated. Wires are undocked and withdraw into the vessels core.

CAMERA SHIFTS > in to third person behind the exoskeleton.

The player sees the vastness and extreme condition of the oceans surface in front.

Space junk and wrecks are covering the surface as far as the eye can reach. The wrecks form a bizarre crippled horizon – silhouettes of gigantic ruins merge into almost mountain like structures.

Ruins and wrecks of a once orbital human society.

FEEL: You awake on a vessel drifting in a vastness – swaying – Like sitting on the chest of a black slimy breathing giant – the water carrying the vessel rises and falls. But no waves are breaking. No blue water, no aerial life, no marine life. The sky above the broken horizon is a dark solid grey.

GAMEPLAY 1 CHAPTER 1 A part of the vessel unfolds and lowers itself to drop you into the black ocean beneath.

You are in control. 4 mini-ROVs drones pop out of the exoskeleton and flicker – then shine a greenish light into your surrounding.

You can test your movements: at this stage you are able to quick dive, swirl, shut off the light and unfold an electric shock unit that needs to be charged before it

12. shoots a loaded dart (limited supply).

EXPLORATION: now way up! The debris and wreckage forms a solid barrier towards the surface.

VISUAL: Nothing. You are engulfed in a ball of green light – but in every direction you face, there‘s blackness.

A mini-ROV is functioning as a guide and is directing your movement via an organic HUD. Down.

You discover jellyfish like organisms that float around and bump into you. They are 2 m large and stick to you like parasites. Your mini-ROVs kill them with electric charges when they slow you down.

The guide leads you towards a technical structure floating in the distance. Faint bio luminescent light is blinking showing a fragmented structure. It is a DATA-CATTLE – an autonomous marine-data-server housing ancient stored data. Once used by mankind to protect and transmit data after the energy-network crisis 3 K a.c.

A mini-ROV projects a text-hologram (HUD) in front of you which states and explains: DATA-CATTLE, ancient autonomous marine data-server. Used to store and transfer data around the planet after the energy-network shut down 3 K a.c. !Possibly weaponized. Approach with caution!

SCREENPLAY CHAPTER I CINEMATIC 1.2.:

CAMERA FOLLOWS THE DRONE CLOSELY NEXT TO IT: Camera (mini-ROV) leaves you and approaches the DATA-CATTLE to investigate. The structure begins to unfold a weapon system that twitches and fails to activate.

The structure remains motion less.

The mini-ROV returns and you are back in control.

GAMEPLAY 2 CHAPTER 1

You move to investigate the structure and discover your first resources: Carbon, Oxygen, Silicon and valuable stored electricity.

You retrieve a fragment of a record but have to realize it‘s not usable, as it replays only a part of the whole record. „… sterile females band together in ritual mass suicide...“ Your exploration continues deeper into the ocean. The miniROVs lead your way.

You are alarmed you are in close proximity to another DATACATTLE. 9

SCREENPLAY | CINEMATIC 1.3:

Yet again a mini-ROV shoots towards the DATA-CATTLE. This time however the selfdefense system activates, unfolds and emits an electric shock through the water destroying the investigating mini-ROV and causing your light sources to flicker.

As the lights flicker a big black mass appears behind the DATA-CATTLE – dimly lit by the bio luminescent lights of the structure in front of it. The mass slowly comes in to frame facing the camera.

It unfolds a symmetric wing like structure which causes the DATA-CATTLE to emit another electric pulse. Blue light bow lighten up the dark and connect with the wings of a now completely lit monstrous ANGELIC-SHARK that feeds on electricity to charge it‘s multi-organism.

The mutated shark is approx. 15 m large. It has no eyes.

It‘s nose bizarrely long, a mouth without teeth – but a large black hole. It‘s back covered by a gigantic copepod parasite. The lower side of it‘s body filled with siphonophore like creatures, that charge the electricity through the unfolded wings of the copepod parasite.

You realize you will need to fight this beast to retrieve a valuable time-fragment stored in the structures dataserver.

GAMEPLAY 3 CHAPTER 1

Approach the structure to start the BOSS fight. You can use your mini-ROVs to cause a distraction and ram yourself into the ANGELIC-SHARK. The shark defense is a sonic shock wave that temporarily disabled your ROVs and leaves in you in darkness for a second. Also the BOSS will slam you with its tail causing melee damage.

Your attacks however will prove inefficient. Only your electric charges seem to put the BOSS in a state of paralyzed shock – when drawing electricity it remains still and floating.

This is your only chance to retrieve the stored data.

Approach the paralyzed BOSS and press triangle when prompted. Once you succeed > 11

CAMERA ZOOMS OUT You see the structure, your exoskeleton retrieving data and the BOSS coming out of stasis, slowly covering you with its sickly wings.

Your exoskeleton is destroyed by the ANGELIC SHARK and harvested for resources.

CUT > FADE TO BLACK. You have succeeded in retrieving the data and learn the back story of the EGO-CRISIS via a stored video report shown on the loading screen.

SCREENPLAY | CINEMATIC 2.1:

LANDSCAPE SHOT: A vast lifeless fogy bluish mountain scenery. No plants are visible. Large rocklike formations poking out of the ground in the far distance. So high, that their ends are out of frame. Some structured like parts of gigantic space vessels. In the center stands a bipedal figure. Like an astronaut on a foreign planet.

CAMERA ZOOMS IN: An aerial drone flies into frame from the right. The camera follows the drone approaching the figure and moving into a fixed hover position behind it. The camera follows the motion and slips into the drone activating the third person mode.

You are looking onto the back of the bipedal surface exoskeleton. It back has different light sources blinking and indicating a good to go.

You can test your motion controls. Jump. Double jump. Run, sprint, dash, roll, slide, melee attack, focus body slam and consume.

The exploration begins. You can go anywhere in the open world. Climbing is possible on any surface. Your drone pops up a HUD when you prompt it. It shows you a topographic map with 4 indicated locations.

Go to one.

You approach a mountain in which a huge cavern is visible.

This is the area you need to investigate.

CAMERA TURNS AROUND YOU OVER YOUR RIGHT SHOULDER Suddenly a huge beastly bipedal CONSUMER climbs over a rock in front the cavern and approaches you aggressively.

It throws a spear

You catch the spear very close to the drone.

GAMEPLAY 1 CHAPTER II | CONTINUES

This is your first BOSS fight. After which you receive resources and your first weapon a SPEAR. Then you are able to enter the cavern to further investigate the area to find resources and stored data. As a reward you learn another part of the back story.

– Reproducing CARRIERS: You learn that you are „pregnant“ and able to reproduce exoskeletons asexually. The reproduction is influenced by the amount of resources you have consumed of a particular type.

For example: 20 % Silicon + 40 % Carbon + 20 % Amino Acids + 20 % Mangan = CARRIER-type: „blood-thirst“ A vampiric acting version of the bipedal exoskeleton that has wings and can attack with it‘s bite sucking out HP from BOSSES. There will be 5 different CARRIER-types that can be reproduced by experimenting mixing resources via the HUD/UI. – ∞ – THIS WILL BE LOOPED 4 TIMES (MAIN + SECONDARY LOOP) Revealing more and more details of the past and allowing you to receive better weapons in relation to the BOSS difficulty.

– ∞ – BOSS 1 = SPEAR BOSS 2 = SWORD BOSS 3 = PROJECTILE WEAPON 16

AFTER BOSS FIGHT 3 CHAPTER II: You enter a hangar like cavern in a mountain and retrieve data from a dormant aerial type CARRIER that then is accessible for you to maneuver. Access works by merging a bipedal CARRIER to the top of the aerial CARRIER. In this data you learn that mankind was victim to its own inexhaustible thirst for knowledge and desire for immortality.

You also learn that your GHOST is one of the ancient HEROEGOs that were victimized in orchestrated mass suicides before the FINAL EVAC. It is revealed to you, that you are remote controlled by a terror organization trying to take control of the government of the now intergalactic progeny of mankind traveling through space in search of a planet to colonize.

You come to realize that a far developed civilization and their elite were responsible for almost entirely wiping out mankind, have permanently destroyed Earths ecosphere and then fled the planet‘s orbit to continue their shameful existence.

Your characters EGO decided to take fate in it‘s own hand, hacks his follow drone uplink to cut the connection to the controllers. Thereby also uncovering their location in the universe.

– ∞ – MAIN + SECONDARY LOOP: You then can explore and roam freely: either on the surface or aerial. Your HUD is no longer working.

Occasionally you can fight smaller BOSS entities.

Once you have located the 4th and last location to explore, Chapter III starts.

CAMERA LOOKS UP To the grey sky. Behind the clouds there‘s a faint form – a fragmented ring -like structure, that looks like a part of the destroyed orbital space station. A blinking satellite passes by.

CAMERA MOVES TO LANDSCAPE Behind the aerial CARRIER. You remain stationary on a launch pad within your aerial CARRIER. There‘s a audio recording playing. One of the last humans of Earth is speaking and revealing the terror and cruelty inflicted from the elite upon the lower classes of the former terrestrial civilization.

Your ego has it‘s first inner monologue: „I need to end this forever“ 19

It is clear to you, that you would need to face to the skies to physically travel to the rest of mankind and infect them with the virus to put an end to mankind and it‘s sick existence.

– ∞ – MAIN + SECONDARY LOOP: You then can explore and roam freely: either on the surface or aerial. Your HUD is no longer working.

Occasionally you can fight smaller BOSS entities.

– ∞ – Once you decide to face to the sky, a CINEMATIC starts: 20

CAMERA FOLLOWS SIDEVIEW Your CARRIER brakes through the clouds. Sunlights blinds you. You enter the stratosphere and see a grey net like structure orbiting the atmosphere.

The closer you approach this layer, the clearer the details become: it is a crust of space wreckage that is orbiting Earth – such quantities that you can only force your way through by unlocking your bipedal CARRIER from the top of the aerial CARRIER. 21

GAMEPLAY 2 CHAPTER III:

You can use your sword or projectile weapon to open a path through the wreckage.

This continues for 120 seconds with the wreckage becoming larger and more difficult to destroy while approaching. As the aerial CARRIER is using a detachable drive stage you need to keep up with the pace or you fail and crash.

Once you succeed and break through the heap of space junk: infinite space and you face towards one star leave planet Earth forever to infect and annihilate the very rest of mankind.

ANGELIC-SHARK: The mutated shark is approx. 15 m large. It has no eyes.

It‘s nose bizarrely long, a mouth without teeth – but a large black hole. It‘s back covered by a gigantic copepod parasite. The lower side of it‘s body filled with siphonophore like creatures, that charge the electricity through the unfolded wings of the copepod parasite.

The shark is one of the tallest and last marine survivors.

It has only survived due to its symbiosis with the mutated copepod and the electric siphonophores, which allow for a non-food based metabolism: the shark feeds directly from electricity to keep its nervous system alive.

BIOLOGISTS Elitist group of scientists ruling a non-religious society separated in two classes. The one with extended life. And the ones without.
