Sheriff Bear was on his daily patrol of Critter Village. With his shiny badge and friendly smile, he greeted every critter he saw. “Keeping the peace is my job,” he said proudly.

Nearby, a chipmunk and a squirrel were arguing over a shiny acorn. “I found it first!” shouted the chipmunk. “But I need it more!” the squirrel argued back. Sheriff Bear arrived just in time.

“Hold on now,” Sheriff Bear said in his deep, calm voice. “Let’s not fight. There’s a better way to solve this.” The critters stopped yelling and listened carefully.

Sheriff Bear asked them to sit down.
“Fairness means listening to each other and finding a solution that works for everyone,” he explained. “Let’s talk this through.”

The chipmunk spoke first. “I wanted to save the acorn for winter,” he said. Then the squirrel added, “I need it to feed my family today.” Sheriff Bear nodded as he listened.

“I have an idea,” Sheriff Bear said. “You can break the acorn in half and share it. That way, both of you get something you need.” The chipmunk and squirrel thought it over and agreed.

With Sheriff Bear’s help, the critters split the acorn and shared it. They smiled at each other. “Thank you for helping us be fair, Sheriff Bear,” they said together.

Sheriff Bear turned to the children.
“Fairness means finding a way to help everyone feel respected and heard,” he explained. “It’s not always easy, but it’s always worth it.”

The children decided to practice fairness themselves. They worked together to share a basket of treats, making sure everyone got a piece. “This feels great!” one of them said.

As the children left the village, Sheriff Bear waved goodbye. “Remember, fairness keeps everyone happy and the community strong,” he said. “You can be a peacemaker too!”

The critters gathered around Sheriff Bear. “Thank you for teaching us how to be fair,” they said. Sheriff Bear smiled. “It’s my pleasure. Fairness keeps our village magical!”

Think About:
1. How did Sheriff Bear help the chipmunk and squirrel solve their problem?
2. Why is fairness important in a community?
3. How can you practice fairness with your friends and family?
Let's Work Together: By listening and working together, we can find fair solutions that make everyone feel valued.
I Will: I will practice fairness by listening to others and sharing when I can.
The Importance of Knowing: Knowing how to be fair helps build strong friendships and communities, just like in Critter Village
