As Mr. Simpson steers the bus towards Brite Star Ranch, Emma peers out the window.

"What will we see at the farm?" she asks.

Lucas bounces in his seat, "Lots of plants and animals!" Teacher Lisa smiles, "Exactly, and each has a special job."

Emma holds up a carrot, covered in soil.

"Do potatoes grow like carrots?" Billy wonders. "They both grow underground," Emma responds, proudly. Teacher Lisa adds, "Nice job, Emma! They're root vegetables."

A hen pecks gently at Lucas's basket full of eggs. "Why do chickens peck the ground?"

Sara inquires. Lucas replies, "They're looking for food, like seeds and bugs!" Teacher Lisa confirms with a smile, "That's correct, Lucas!

They're great at finding snacks."

Miguel watches a cow being milked. "Do all cows give milk?" he asks. The farmer replies, "Only the mama cows, called dairy cows." Teacher Lisa nods, "Good question, Miguel! Dairy cows are very important."

Sara reaches for an apple. "Can fruits grow anywhere?" Tony asks. "Nope, they need the right weather," Sara answers, cradling the fruit. "Well done, Sara! Different fruits need different climates," Teacher Lisa affirms.

Billy marvels at the large tractor. "What else do farmers use to work?" Johnny quizzes. "They use plows and seed spreaders too!" Billy exclaims. "You've been paying attention, Billy! Nice job," Teacher Lisa praises.

Cindy watches bees at work. Sam jests, "Do bees make peanut butter?" "Silly, bees make honey!" Cindy giggles.

Teacher Lisa laughs, "That's correct, and quite funny, Sam! Bees are busy with honey."

Johnny turns the compost, full of life.

"Can we compost at home too?" Cindy asks. "Yes, we can compost fruit and veggie scraps!" Johnny replies. "That's a great idea, Johnny! Composting is good for our gardens," Teacher Lisa encourages.

Sam strokes the sheep's wool. "Does shearing hurt the sheep?" Emma asks worriedly. "No, it's like a haircut and keeps them cool," Sam explains.

"Exactly, Sam! It's important for their care," Teacher Lisa reassures.

Ralph helps to gather the tomatoes. "Can we plant these seeds?" he wonders. "Sure, they can grow into new tomato plants!" the farmer answers. "That's the cycle of life, Ralph! You're learning fast," Teacher Lisa affirms.

Tony talks with the farmer. "What's the best crop you grow?" he inquires. "I love all my crops, but strawberries are my favorite," the farmer smiles. "Every crop is special, just like each of you," Teacher Lisa adds thoughtfully.

The children enjoy a barbecue. "Why are there so many different foods?" Miguel asks.

"Because the farm grows lots of different things!" Sam answers, munching on corn.

"That's right, Sam! A farm gives us a variety of foods to enjoy," Teacher Lisa explains.

"Think About" Questions: 1. "What's something you can do to help plants grow?"

Teacher Lisa asks.

2. "Why should we eat food from the farm?" she continues.

3. "What can we do to thank the farmers?" Teacher Lisa prompts the children.

"Let's Work Together" Statement: "By understanding where our food comes from, we can help farmers.”

"I Will..." Pledge: "I will be thankful for my food and remember the farmers' hard work.”

The Importance of Knowing: "When we know about our food, we appreciate our land and farmers more," Teacher Lisa finishes with a smile.
