Challenges of chemical industry in India Challenges of chemical industry in India are many. The chemicals are used worldwide for various purposes, some of it is very hazardous for the mankind. As the demand for the chemicals is always growing, the number of the chemical producing plants is also increasing. As the chemicals need huge investments, the country does not have sufficient financial resources to support all the production. Thus these challenges of chemical industry in India are given importance.

The main challenges due to chemical importation are security of the country and loss of export. India is suffering from the worst recession in past few decades. The large scale unemployment and reduction in industrial sector have made the country dependent on foreign investors. In order to overcome this problem, the importation of chemicals needs urgent attention. This can be achieved through chemical manufacturers or exporters having proper knowledge and information about the safety of the country and adequate backup support system.

There are several risks involved in chemical export. It includes danger of explosion, leakage, and contamination of water, land, and air. The chemicals need several permit and approval prior to export. These chemicals have to be transported in a closed container. And if there are any accidents during transportation then the whole cargo would be responsible for compensation.

Chemical importation has important role of improving the industrialization in the country. However, the chemicals should be transported in a secure way. The country also faces difficulties related to pollution and landmine incidents. In addition, the country lacks technical manpower for such activities.

In order to overcome these challenges of chemical export, importing companies should prepare a detailed report describing the challenges and advantages of their proposed activity. The report should include all the pros and cons of their proposed activity and the expected results after completion of project. Importing companies should be able to provide necessary inputs to the Ministry of Health on importing chemicals. The MoH would then provide necessary permissions and clearances. The consultants and agents involved in chemical importation can also help by providing relevant information regarding government policies related to chemical safety.
