Startingwith APSeminarduringsophomoreyear,andcontinuing withAPResearch injunioryear, thecoursesuse aninterdisciplinary approach todevelop thecriticalthinking,research,collaboration, timemanagement,andpresentation skillsneeded for college.

Aprilwas busymonth forResearchstudents,whoclearedthe nal hurdlesoftheirtwo-year APCapstonejourney.Duringthe rst twoweeks ofApril,students reliedon peerfeedback topractice andre netheir presentations,whichdetailedtheir research questions, methodologies,andconclusions.Faculty dropped in to observeand offerencouragement:thankyouto Mr.Goldman, Mrs. Oliveros, Mrs.Lanni,and Mrs. Yombor.OnApril 15,eachstudent madeherformalpresentation,andansweredquestionsto elaborate onanddefendcomponentsof herproject.epresentations,each ofwhichrangedbetween 15-20minutes,werefollowed byaspecial lunch.

Aer aquicksighofrelief,the girlsdoverightback toworkto nalizetheirpapers— which,forthisgroup,averagedabout20 pagesandincluded anaverageof22sources.Becauseinstructors cannotproofreadorprovide speci c,directivefeedback,peerreview andcollaboration wereessentialduringtherun-up to theApril30 deadline.Aer eachstudentclickedthe nal“Submit” buttonon the CollegeBoard’swebsite,herrelieved “I didit”was followedbyafew barsof Kool& theGang’s“Celebration.” Cupcakes andstickerswere alsoincorporatedinto thefestivities.

Followingsubmissionoftheformalpapers,Researchersusedclass timeto pavethe roadfornextyear’s APR students bypreparing specialpresentationsforthe Seminarstudentswho,onMay21, listened toeachResearcherdescribe topicselection andoffer advice abouthurdlesto avoidandeffectivestrategiesto employfor asuccessfulResearch experience.eResearchershaveindicated interestinservingasinformalmentorsto nextyear’s class,offering yetanotheropportunityfortheir academic growth,evenaerthe formalCapstone experienceends.

ITALIAN NATIONAL EXAM

BackinApril,over5000studentsparticipatedinthe National Examsponsoredby AATI(AmericanAssociationof Teachers ofItalian) and over1500students receivedmedalsand other awards,displayingcommitment anddedicationto thestudyof theItalianlanguageandculture.Onceagain,ourVillagirlsdid well nationallyandourwinners areasfollows:

ChristintheCityServiceDay

On Saturday,May10th,agroup ofstudentsfromVillaWalsh AcademyandDelbartonSchooltraveledtoPhiladelphiato participate in Christin theCity,ayoungadultmissionary programdevoted to servingthehomelessthroughpersonal connectionandpresence.

MissGeraghty,who servedasa missionarywithChrist intheCity inDenverfrom2020 to2021,brought studentstogether totake partin this powerful missionof loveandservice.

Christinthe Citydedicates over38,000hourseachyear to buildingrelationshipswiththehomeless.rough simplebut meaningfulgestures—eyecontact,awarm smile,andtheactof learningsomeone’sname—missionariesplant seeds offriendship thatbegina journeyofhealing.

Aer receivingtrainingfromcurrentmissionaries,students venturedintodowntown Philadelphiato serveandsharea meal withthehomelesscommunity.eywereabletomeetmany of themissionaries’“friendsonthestreet,” spendingtime listening, sharingstories,andbeingfullypresent.Acorebelief ofChristin theCityis thateverypersondeserves tofeelseen,known,and loved.

VILLA SERVES

We’veGotFriendsisa community thatbrings together teens withintellectualanddevelopmentaldisabilities inorderto make meaningfulconnections,have fun,andthrivetogetherin aspace whereeveryone belongs.  eorganization offers Hangouts and SpecialEvents thatareallaboutinclusionandfun. In thecombined effortofVillaServesandDiversity Cafe,a lunchtimebake sale allowedusto donate $80tothislocalorganization. A bigthankyou toAnneRionda’27forbringing this group to ourattention andfor organizingtheevent.

To close outourserviceactivitiesfortheyear, BlytheDudley’26 led usina drivefor babysupplies tosupport LifeChoices whose “missionis to promote and help buildhealthyfamilies byproviding medicalservicesthatencouragegoodprenatalcare,material assistanceforfamilies in need,mentoringandencouragingrisk-free behaviorin youth”.  Wecollectedfragrance-free laundrydetergent, diapers,babylotion,shampoo,andbabywipesdeliveredthem to LifeChoices.

DiversityCafe

EveryMay,wetakethetimetocelebrate AsianAmericansand Paci cIslanders andtheircontributionsto oursharedculture.  A bannerhasbeen hunginthe cafeteriaremindingstudents oftheir history,cultureandachievements.

eJVgolfseason iswindingdown with ourlastmatchesbeing against Pequannock. Sofar,we havetiedMorristown andlost twicetoMorristown-Beard. However,despitetheloss, we are improvingeachday.InourlastmatchagainstMorristown, welost byonly6strokes. egirlshave shownsigni cant improvement in theirgamethisseason,and CoachFoleylooks forwardto seeingthe team continuetodevelop theirskillson theirown inthesummer.

SpringTrack&Field

eVilla TrackteamcompetedintheNJACEAST trackmeetat MorrisHillsHigh School on May6thand7th.Onday 1, Abigail Wright’28jumped7 feetin thepolevault for thevery rst time. Congratulationsonachievingthismilestone- andkeep up the goodwork,Abby!

Villa's“Sprack” team was backon thetrack on May15,2025,to measure themselveswithotherNJ Prep-Bschools.Aer abusy aernoonwitheveryone on theteamcontributing,theVilla squaddominated theteamscoringand nishedin rst placewith 145 points.HaileySimmons’28,forthe rsttime,cleared the pole vaultbarat9’, JillianPaolino’26 rana great400hurdlesrace (1:08.46), InesLemee’25 dropped a remarkable 1600personal bestwith5:18whilecomingin3rdbehindherteammates MargaretBoler’25and BlytheDudley’26.

One weeklater,Villawasthe runner-upat the2025Morris CountyTrackChampionship,cominginonly3pointsbehind MorrisHillsHigh School.isis thehighestMorrisCounty placementever foraVillaWalshTrack&Fieldteam.Points were scored by:BlytheDudley’26 for1stplaceinthe3200m and 5th place inthe 1600m,by MargaretBoler’25 for2ndplacein the 1600m (with anew personal bestof4:58.82,)andfor3rdplace inthe800m,andby InesLemee’25 fora 4thplace inthe 3200m. eirteammatesinthejumpingpits werealsohardatworkand collecteda combined19points.AzariahAndrews’27 brokethe longjumpschoolrecordwith anoutstandingjump of 18’4.25”,
