Wave Goodbye To Winter Paul Toole MP

Pictured: Main Street business owners Fran Ferguson and Karyn Mitchell are looking forwaed to an enjoyable Saturday.

By Kellie Evans This Saturday will see Main Street abuzz with activity as many businesses join together for a joint sale’s event called “Wave Goodbye To Winter”. You can expect some awesome bargains from a range of shops looking to chase the winter blues away. Making this a family event, the action for kids aged 6 and under kicks off at 11am at Wollemi Bakery with Queen Elsa, Princess Anna and Olaf the Snowman there to pose for pictures and interact with the children. There will also be balloon twisting, bubbles and more! Then the characters will do the Main Street walk up to Cook Street Plaza for a mini-show for all ages from 1pm

till 3pm. All of the kids are asked to come dressed as their favourite characters (Frozen themed or not) and be prepared to have a blast! Rhonda Collins, who has been assisting with a lot of the organising, said, “It’s going to be a great family day. An opportunity to let the kids dress up and have some fun while the adults check out all the amazing bargains at our participating retailer’s shops!” This shopping event is supported by the Lithgow Business Networking Group & the Lithgow District Chamber of Commerce. For more information, check out the Facebook page www.facebook.com/shoplithgow or just search “Wave Goodbye to Winter”.

Spend time choosing before giving it away The Magpie Whisperer

From

the Editor Last weekend, the family and I travelled to see the Three Sisters. Olivia is learning about them in class and she informed us that she had never seen them. I think she has, but maybe she was too young to remember. So as we often do, we all piled into the car and headed up and over the Mountains to go and check it out. After a quick stroll through a market, and then some lunch, we headed down to Echo Point, expecting to park and take a stroll to view the famous landmark. Now admittedly, it was a stunning winter’s day. The sky was crystal clear and there was hardly a breeze. However, I was not prepared for the massive of crowd that greeted us. After 15 minutes of looking for parking, we decided to hedge our bets and head over to Scenic World. I figured it might be slightly less busy, given it is a paid attraction as opposed to free. We arrived at 1:30pm, and were lucky to get into the carpark, as it was full, and they were only letting people in when someone left. We lined up for 45 minutes to get in, paid our money (was a very pleasant surprise that a family ticket actually covered all your children for a change) and then went in… only to line up again for another 25 minutes to catch the Scenic Railway down into the valley. Now this is not any reflection on the establishment or their workforce, who were some of the most enthusiastic I had ever seen, this is an illustration of just how many people were there. It was literally packed, I would estimate many thousands of people at the time we were there. Whilst waiting in line, I was able to take the time to learn the history of the place. An enterprising Harry Hammon and his sister Isobel Fahey bought the lease of the Katoomba Colliery Limited in 1945 and started operating the tourist attraction. To this day it is still a privately held family business.

This proves something I have said many times over the last few years; it is entrepreneurs who change the world not governments. If we are to entice people up and over the great sandstone curtain that separates us from Australia’s largest population, we need people to have a go and take a gamble on creating something great. This is not the job of Council. Nor is it the job of the State Government. It is always up to us to create our destiny, not to ask it of others. If Lithgow wants to be an internationally recognised tourist destination, we need to attract people willing to invest in creating attractions like Scenic World. There are some out there, and there are already many things underway. Halloween is of course a great event to attract attention, but we need more - much more. Surely I am not the only one that thinks this, so I am inviting you, our readers, and the broader community to send in your ideas. We will put together a special edition of the Village Voice to showcase these ideas - if we receive enough and see if together we can create something that will put us on the map for international tourism.

Giving to charity is one of the most selfless things you can do. You’re giving away your hard-earned money and expecting nothing in return, except the satisfaction of making the world a little better. And it’s easy - all you need is whatever cash you can spare and awareness as to who you’re giving it to. We like to know our donations are going to help people and not paying for charity employees long lunches. By donating to charities with low administrative costs, it makes us more confident that our money is going to proper charity work, instead of wages and office costs. And that’s common advice given to people looking for a good charity why pay for office supplies when there are people in need? The reality is that charities need those supplies to operate efficiently. Charities with higher overheads are generally better than their cost-cutting counterparts, because of a simple business fact: You have to spend money to make money. The same principle applies to building schools, feeding and housing disaster victims, or whatever else a charity deems charitable. And when we favour only those charities with low overheads, we’re actually encouraging them to cut corners. They can hire unqualified people and run cheaper but unhelpful programs. And this results in much less useful aid - exactly what scrutinising administrative expenses is supposed to avoid. Earmarking your donation for a specific project is like choosing charities with low overheads; it makes you feel confident that your money is going to something important. But in the charities world, it means that some projects are considered more desirable than others. Funding a children’s hospital sounds much better than giving to a village sewage system. When donations are earmarked, it creates a huge imbalance in funding that can lead to serious bureaucratic anomalies. For example, charities working in Indonesia could only help areas that had been directly affected by the 2004 tsunami. People further inland were poorer and in desperate need of aid, but because they hadn’t been inundated charities could do nothing for them. After the 2011 tsunami in Japan, so many donations were earmarked for housing that charities built mini-mansions for displaced people, to dispose of the excess cash that literally couldn’t be spent on anything else. So, if you want to donate to a global charity, do it. Just try and avoid messing it up.

A sustainable workforce for the future - built by you, for you For a community to truly prosper it must collaborate, says Lithgow council candidate Cass Coleman. “Sustainable prosperity is only possible with a local council that is progressive, diverse and provides a platform for its community to be involved. That’s the council I want to build for the people of Lithgow.” While mining and energy remain important factors in the economic stability of the area, Lithgow must also explore opportunities for growth in other areas to enable continued economic prosperity. “It’s time for the voice of the Lithgow community to be not only heard, but embedded into the work of local government,” said Cass Coleman. “And it’s vital that the council represents and engages with the diversity of our community. “Only by doing that will we truly understand the opportunities and develop programs to activate those opportunities,” she said. As a recent article in Why Local Government Matters confirmed that the view that local government’s role being confined to roads, rates and rubbish is long gone

in both practice and in the community’s expectations. Australians want local governments to be responsible for a cross-section of activities, of which planning for the future is the most valued. “It is important we learn from fellow local governments around Australia and internationally who are leading the charge in this area. “Close to home, I have seen the great work of Blue Mountains City Council in the establishment of the Blue Mountains Economic Enterprise. “It is exciting to see how the Enterprise has successfully brought together councilors and representatives of the community in a collaborative working group,” she said The outcome of this Economic Enterprise was a threeyear strategic plan and practical program to ensure sustainable economic prosperity for the region across multiple industries. “An initiative such as this for Lithgow will not just cement Lithgow Council as fit for the future, but ensure our community sustainably thrives,” Ms Coleman said.

Here for Hearts program launches By Rich Evans Thursday saw the launch of a new Westfund program to assist local schools access life saving Defibrillator machines. The launch included a demonstration on exactly how a Defibrillator works, which was an eye opener for many in attendance. “For every minute that a person is in cardiac arrest, their chances of survival decreases by 10%,” advised Carpet Hughes, managing director of the Defib Shop. The length of time it may take emergency services to respond, and the remote locations of some schools in the region mean that having a Defibrillator on site could be the difference between life and death. It was also pointed out that whilst there was only a slim chance of a child needing a Defibrillator, many visitors to schools such as parents, grandparents or staff could also be saved in the event of an emergency. The Here for Hearts program is a partnership between Westfund Health and the Defibshop. The program aims to bring greater awareness of the importance of easier access to AED’s in the community, particularly in regional areas. The partnership also means the cost of these AED’s can be subsidised for various community groups and schools through discounting and matching contributions from Westfund. Col Hunter’s Independents with Vision Team

Running under the banner Independents with Vision, long standing Lithgow City Councillor Colin Hunter has announced that he is running with a five person team comprising David Peters from Hartley, Darren King and Sue Graves both from Lithgow and Linsey Featherston from Rydal. David Peters will be known to many through his role as President of the Lithgow Show Society and for his senior role as a Group Captain in the RFS. Darren King has a great reputation for his active sporting involvements in Lithgow whilst Sue Graves is well known for her Tidy Towns achievements. Linsey Featherstone from Rydal has a long record of volunteer involvement in that community including a number of terms as President of the Rydal Village association. Launching their campaign, Col Hunter emphasised the importance he placed on the need for councillors to be independent “ My team is a group of like minded people who believe that councillors should be independent of political affiliations, solely focussed on making the best possible decisions for the region” …”we have good staff, we just need to provide an approval framework that properly takes account of ratepayers’ interests”. Hunter made the point that all his team were encouraging enquiries from ratepayers relating to any policy questions they have. He emphasised they have all published their phone contact details on the

candidate website at the NSW Electoral Commission. During a photo session for the group at Hassans Walls, Col said “ It’s symbolic that we are here at Hassans Walls, we need places like this to underpin the tourism economy we need to develop right across the region to capitalise on the 4.5mill people that live just across the hill”….”not that we don’t need our old industries, we need to keep them going but we also need to see the development of lots of new industry developed in town and in the country around” On the new economy of the region David Peters, second on the ticket, added some comment relating to the need for better TV internet and mobile coverage across the region “ many in the region and lots in Hartley work in Sydney either remotely or via occasional commuting. We need city equivalent connectivity in order to compete; strangely our situation is more dire than the deep bush because we serve a greater Sydney market “. On the general subject of the new economy Col Hunter said “ Tourism is only one string to our bow but given the wealth of natural and built heritage we enjoy there is lots of opportunity to develop tourist enterprises right across the district. We need more tourism promotion on events that bring people into the district for a few days at a time”

A Reception was held at Lithgow City Council on 9 August 2016 to acknowledge the contributions to the community by a number of well-known local people. The Reception was held to show appreciation to for the many decades of service provided by seven local people in a variety of fields: Len Ashworth, Jeff Geddes and Don Kipp retired recently from the Lithgow Mercury with close to 150 years of combined service to journalism and the Lithgow community. Dr Judith White OAM was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours List, worked for many years as a local medical practitioner and volunteered with a number of community organisations.

John Barlow OAM was awarded the Order of Australia Medal in this year’s Australia Day Honours List and has made a valuable contribution to the Lithgow community over many years through his work with Lithgow Lions Club, Lithgow RSL Sub-Branch and other organisations. Dave Nunan recently retired after more than 40 years’ service with Wallerawang Fire Brigade. Lionel Johnstone retired in 2015 after 45 years’ service with Lithgow Fire and Rescue. It was a great honour to be able to recognise these people who have contributed so much in their fields to Lithgow over such a long time. Joe Smith of Wallerawang will head up an independent group of candidates in the upcoming Lithgow Council election. Steve Jackson, Danny Whitty OAM, Jenny Lamborn, and Robert Cluff will stand together with Joe Smith – with every candidate in this group possessing a solid background of involvement in community organisations, a history of supporting fundraising and charity events, as well as working tirelessly for many of our local sporting bodies. All are well-known and recognised for their generous assistance and unstinting contributions to the local community, and are at the forefront of many community fundraising events. The group is non-political and strongly opposed to any form of politics in local government. As a reflection of this they will not be assigning preferences, and are prepared to work closely and in a cohesive team with whoever is voted on to council, and express a hope that the disruptive and divisive behaviour that has been prevalent recently on Council will not resurface in the new Council. The candidates share a common goal of working for local industry growth, and with that providing the best opportunities for our youth. All having grown up in the Lithgow Council area, and raising children and

grandchildren here, they are concerned that if jobs and industry are not attracted to our area, the future will remain uncertain for young families living in the Lithgow district. They are committed to advancing and improving Lithgow Council in order to safeguard the future of families and children, and keeping our area a great place to live and raise families. Each of the candidates on Joe Smith’s team has guaranteed that, if elected, they will serve on their fair share of local committees. A fresh, non-political and open approach to serving the community is offered by all on this team. Every person in this group has a proven track record of deep and total commitment to their community, and their sole aim in standing as candidates is to make a difference and improve opportunities and standards for everyone living in the Lithgow Council area. They all have established families and solid links to Lithgow and surrounding areas, and are intent on focusing on attracting businesses and establishing growth and permanent employment here, to ensure a real and valuable future for all who live here. They are all active independents with a commitment to the community. Pictured: Joe Smith, Steve Jackson, Danny Whitty, Jenny Lamborn, Robert Cluff

ORANGE AND BATHURST ELECTORATE OFFICES OPEN FOR BUSINESS Now that the polls have been formally declared and I have officially moved into the new offices, I’m looking forward to getting down to business, representing the constituents of Calare. There are a broad range of issues that I’ll be working on including the Murray Darling Medical School, roads funding, access to overseas markets for our local orchardists and improving local infrastructure. Both the Orange and Bathurst electorate offices are now open for business providing assistance to constituents in the Calare electorate on Federal government matters. Just a few of the matters that I am able to assist with include:

• Immigration • Aged Care • Centrelink • Trade • Foreign Affairs

• Higher Education • Defence • Veteran’s Affairs • Telecommunications • National Highways

• Taxation • Child Support • Medicare

Local schools, not-for-profit organisations, Australian exchange students and families of war veterans can also request flags for presentation or display from either electorate office.

Andrew has two electorate offices, located in Orange and Bathurst, which are able to provide assistance to constituents on Federal government matters.

BEHIND THE SCENES TOUR OF FERRERO IN LITHGOW

RENEWED CALLS FOR SPECIAL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY

Ferrero Australia started in 1974 and since that time, the family owned company has been producing the hugely popular Tic Tac and Nutella brands here in the Central West. These products are then distributed right around Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific. Last week I had the opportunity to tour the factory in Lithgow and witness first hand jars of Nutella and Tic Tacs rolling off the production line. It was certainly a very ‘sweet’ day at the office!

I have again renewed calls for a Special Commmission of Inquiry into off-protocol flat dosing of cancer patients in New South Wales. This comes after the NSW Parliament established an Upper House Inquiry into the matter late last week.

Of interest to our primary producers is the fact that Ferrero is testing the growth of hazelnut trees at the Orange Agricultural Institute. There is huge potential to expand this industry in the Central West.

I really think that the issue needs to be taken out of the political realm and given to someone independent to investigate. The parliamentary inquiry just has the potential to get bogged down in partisan point-scoring which is not what the exercise should be about. Will it get the answers we need? Maybe, but maybe not. I think that the public would have greater confidence in the process if the person overseeing the inquiry was a serving or former judge with no political connections. It’s pretty simple. We need to get to the bottom of why this flat dosing happened and how widespread the practice has been across the health system. It should not be difficult to do that. This should not be a political issue; it’s about doing the right thing for patients and their families. Unfortunately, the reluctance to call a special commission is turning it into one. Nobody knows how deep this issue runs in the Central West and the people out here are entitled to answers. Merely referring anyone with further concerns to the Health Care Complaints Commission is not good enough.

7 DAY TV GUIDE Australian Survivor By Kellie Evans

Pick Of The Week

Australian Survivor - WIN on Sunday 21st August at 7:30pm

In another Aussie first, Survivor is about to hit our tv’s with a bang! 24 Australians arrive on what should be a tropical paradise in Samoa but they only have the clothes on their backs. Their goal is to “outwit, outplay and outlast” all the other competitors until they are the very last one left standing. Along the way, there are challenges set up to test their strength and will. This is very much like a humanity test - who will team up and form an alliance and who will pretty much hate each other upon first meeting. The cast come from all walks of life and all have very different stories so this should make for some very interesting viewing. Hosted by TV & Film star, Jonathan LaPaglia (younger brother of Anthony LaPaglia), Australian Survivor is part of the American version now in its 33rd season and 16th year!

Focus on maples

Holistic Herbal Therapy Nutrition advice Variety of Tea Pots, Infuser Cups and a large selection of tea blends Call Michelle today to discuss your individual requirements on 0490 335 602 Acer palmatum dissectum Atropurpureum

By Barbara Moran, Good Earth Acers, commonly known as maples consist of more than 150 different species with the majority of them being deciduous. They are easily grown in the Lithgow District with well-drained soil and an adequate amount of moisture required during spring and summer. The versatility of the maple varieties see them planted in situations such as street trees, rockeries or bonsai. Grafted weeping maples make superb feature plants and they are my personal favourite because in the correct position they will never disappoint you. What sets the maple apart is the remarkable range of colour variations particularly in Autumn with the Japanese varieties providing the richest colour. The cooler it is in Autumn the more exciting the colours. The Japanese maples provide many options for landscape design featuring different textures and seasonal changes of foliage, together with a variety of heights and sizes. The foliage of the Japanese maple varieties are tender and can burn from wind and sun so therefore try to find a sheltered position for them and they will reward you. If you are considering planting a large Maple Tree with beautiful intense autumn foliage then the Flemings Lipstick varieties make spectacular specimens. They

are Autumn Blaze, Fairview Flame and October Glory which will reach an approximate height of 11 to 13 metres. If your yard is smaller than you could consider the Acer palmatum polymorphum (Japanese Maple) which grows to around 4 x 4 metres or the bronze purple colour of the Acer palmatum ‘Atropurpureum’ which makes a magnificent feature and will reach around 3 metres in height. Acer palmatum ‘Butterfly’ with it’s variegated green and cream leaves will grow to around 3 metres and is ideal for a protected area in the garden. Acer palmatum ‘Sango Kaku’ with it’s bright coral pink branches is a popular well-known cultivar of the Japanese maple and will reach around 6 metres in height at 20 years. Some popular varieties of Acer negundos which are hardy for our area include Acer negundo ‘Sensation’, Violaceum, ‘Kelly’s Gold’ and ‘Pink Flamingo’ with it’s pink, cream and green foliage. If you are looking for that dark purple foliage then the Acer platanoides ‘Crimson Sentry’ which grows to a height of 7 metres and a width of 4 metres and is a remarkable variety. If you have not considered a Maple for your garden then it is not too late, now is the perfect time to plant them and you will enjoy it for many years to come.

The students and staff at La Salle Academy in Lithgow have been working hard to try and help the homeless keep warm this winter. The Social Justice group decided to run a knitting group, starting in term 1 to knit blankets and beanie. They asked for knitting volunteers along with donations of wool and needles and the response was overwhelming. Whilst knitting a complete blanket was far too large a task for the students who had only just learnt to knit, the group decided to knit smaller squares and join them to make the bigger blankets. The staff were also amazing, with one making over 50 squares and 12 beanies, and another teacher taking home all the squares to join together to form the blanket. Not an easy feat. The blanket and beanies were donated to a wonderful project called the Soul Kitchen in Katoomba, run by the amazing Rosa Del Ponte, who was extremely grateful

for the support. Soul Kitchen runs a food rescue program in the Blue Mountains and also serves lunch on Sundays for those who are struggling or without a home. The Soul kitchen depends on Volunteers and a LaSalle Academy staff member and students went along to offer their support. Mrs Johanne Zyp, a regular supporter of the Social Justice team is hoping to make Volunteering at the Soul Kitchen a regular occurrence for the students of La Salle Academy. “I believe it’s one of the important lessons we can teach the students, to give to those less fortunate, even if we they don’t have money to give, we can always donate time”. The students have learnt a valuable lesson with this project. They all realize how blessed they are to have a roof over their heads and warmth this winter. Unfortunately, not everyone is that lucky.

SOME THINGS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT THE VILLAGE VOICE

Lithgow Tidy Towns calls on residents to help create a good impression when an assessor visits us on the week of 12th September to judge Lithgow in the Keep New South Wales Beautiful Blue Star Awards. As in previous years Lithgow residents have always helped showcase Lithgow by spring cleaning their gardens and areas nearby their homes. “We hope to create a good impression of our town.” said Sue Graves, Chairperson of Lithgow Tidy Towns. “First impressions are always very important to a visitor.” “We also ask residents to pick up rubbish on the streets near their houses. Lithgow is relatively litter free thanks to many folk who always pick up rubbish as they do their daily walks. “With spring on the way, every house and garden needs a spring clean, mine included. So now is a good time to get started.” said Mrs Graves. An assessor has not visited Lithgow for the past two years as the Keep New South Wales Beautiful judging process has changed significantly. “So this is why this visit will be very significant.” A bus tour of Lithgow will take place. But the visit is only for four hours which leaves little time to really showcase Lithgow. Lithgow Tidy Towns made six submissions this year. Those submissions were • Lithgow Men’s Shed, • Lithgow High School, • Zig Zag Public School, • Lithgow Small Arms Factory Museum, • Mrs Helen Drewe, environmentalist, • Ferrero (Lithgow) Australia.

Currently residing in Barcelona, Spain and enjoying a truly international career as both a concert and recording artist, Jacob Cordover “impresses with his intuitive musicianship and impeccable technique” (Leicester Mercury, UK). His “consummate artistry” (Adelaide Advertiser, Australia) has enticed audiences in over a dozen countries across four continents. He has appeared as soloist with the Las Colinas Symphony, the Arlington Symphony, the Garland Symphony, the Orquestra Simfònica de Balears “Ciutat de Palma” and the Orchestra dell’Accademia l’Ottocento, and his performances have “demonstrated how much poetry and feeling can be obtained from the guitar in the hands of master musicians such as Jacob Cordover.” (The Mercury, Australia). As a recording artist, Mr. Cordover has released two solo CDs to much critical acclaim; Stélé (independent release, 2004) was hailed by Classical Guitar Magazine (UK) as “wonderfully sympathetic and highly accomplished...Cordover managing to get to the very soul of this striking and brilliant music.” His most recent solo release Blackwattle Caprices (Cala Records, 2013) received the following review in the American Record Guide “His technique is flawless. His expression tasteful and always interesting and moving.” Mr. Cordover has also released two CDs with his long standing chamber ensembles; Songs from the Forest, (independent release, 2012) the debut CD from the Australian Guitar Duo (with Rupert Boyd) and Historias (Cala Records, 2014) the debut CD from Zoco Duo (with Laura Karney, oboe/cor anglais). As well as receiving rave reviews, all of his CDs have been broadcast on radio stations in Asia, North America and Australia.

Mr. Cordover regularly performs repertoire from a wide range of musical periods. His enthusiasm for contemporary music has brought about a number of world premieres, including works for solo guitar and guitar chamber music, by composers from countries including Australia, England, Norway, Spain and Canada. A strong interest in the application of appropriate performance practice of 19th-century music has led to numerous performances of this repertoire on a variety of period guitars, including Mauro Giuliani’s First Guitar Concerto at the Festival “800” Sardegna (Italy) on an original Gaetano Guadagnini guitar from 1814. Critics have praised equally his performances of J.S. Bach, “His interpretation of the Bach suite is one of the finest I have heard to date with superb phrasing and total mastery of the technicalities involved in playing this difficult composition” (Classical Guitar Magazine) and William Walton “This is simply the finest performance of Walton’s Bagatelles I’ve encountered. I and V crackle with energy, and he realizes perfectly the range of moods and colors in this modern masterpiece.” (American Record Guide). Where: Eskbank House and Museum Bennett Street, Lithgow, 2790 When: 7.30pm on Friday 9 September 2016 Tickets costs are: $30 Adults, $20 children and concession, $80 Family of four and Mit Con school-age students free. The stall will have a variety of potted colour, varieties of pansies, violas, snapdragons and poppies. For the gardeners into vintage (the hot garden trend at the moment) there will bags of mixed gladioli bulbs, and seedlings of mixed colour penstemons, oriental poppies and hollyhocks to keep you on-trend. Tickets for a lovely garden inspired raffle will also be available and drawn at the” Markets” on the day. All plants and bags of bulbs, will be available for $2.50 so hurry as they won’t last long at this price. Also a “jumble” sale box of terracotta and glazed pots will be available for you to plant some “goodies” in. We look forward to seeing all our regular customers and hope to meet some new friends. Can Assist helps support residents of the Greater Lithgow Area who are undergoing treatment for cancer. Thank’s to all who have supported us in the past, looking forward to “Market Day”

NEW ERA Cup Update Photo & Story by John Fitzgerald Despite running into the wind in the final 40 minutes of their New Era Midwest Cup semi-final at Wallerawang Sportsground Villages United scored all the points in the second half to defeat Wallerawang Warriors 18-8. Wallerawang led 8-6 at halftime, but were unable to capitalise with the strong breeze at their backs after the break. Villages were deserving winners in a typical semifinal atmosphere, utilising the prevailing conditions better than their rivals, with strong defence shutting down a good Wallerawang attack, and taking advantage of all the opportunities on offer. In the other semi-final at Bathurst, the CSU team’s 2622 win ended Orange Barbarians’ season, the Barbarians

providing strong opposition to the university side. In the leaguetag semi-final Villages United’s Villagettes prevailed over their opponents Orange Barbies in an 18-16 finish to end the Orange team’s season, while the Kandos Tiara-tahs were beaten by Wallerawang after a marathon golden-point game forced the men’s semi-final to a late start, with the Warriettes eventual winners 10-6. All four games, with close scores, reflected the evenness of clubs from both competitions. This coming round of semi-finals will see the minor premiers in action, Blackheath Blackcats, and leaguetag’s CSU Yellow.
