Mayor Maree Statham and Deputy Mayor Ray Thompson
Third term for our Mayor There was a great show of support on Monday night at as councillors voted in the mayoral election. By Rich Evans It was standing room only in the Council Chambers on Monday night as local residents gathered to show support for Cr Maree Statham in the mayoral election. Cr Maree Statham was re-elected for her third term as Mayor to resounding applause from the the public gallery. Ray Thompson was also re-elected as her
deputy and the public’s response was once again positive, only slighty marred by lingering distaste at a move to have the election occur before Public Forum - effectively preventing the public in attendance from showing the verbal support they were hoping to offer. Now that the election is behind her, Mayor Statham can focus both on finishing the many projects she has begun and on starting new projects that will bring some much needed improvements to the entire Lithgow region. The challenges facing the community and the economy in the region will require all councillors working together.
