A Message from our Director We hope you had a Happy Holiday season and fared through our winter. We are looking forward to you joining us at the Parks and Recreation Department for the long awaited summertime. We have lots of programs, events, and memberships for you to consider! Perfect for the pickin’s...The Community Garden Program at Sunset Park (729 Murphy) still has plots available for rent. Come grow your own vegetables and herbs for your family to enjoy. Phase 1 and 2 have been completed at Discovery Park. We are waiting on the turf to germinate, so that the park can soon be enjoyed by all. This will be a wonderful addition to the parks and recreational amenities that our community has to offer. Construction at Malibu Bay Park will began this spring. The renovations will include a new playground, pathways, concrete walkways, trellis, extensive landscaping and security lighting. We’re looking forward to this renovation and anticipate your positive feedback. We hope you take a moment to review our brochure, which is packed with activities and recreational opportunities for the entire family to enjoy. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact our staff at 815.886.6222 and they will be happy to assist you. Kelly Rajzer

RETURNED CHECKS If a check is returned unpaid, there is a $35 insufficient check fee in addition to the original amount of the check payable by cash or money order within 10 days. Failure to do so in the specified time will result in turning the check over to the police department for further action.

PROGRAM CANCELLATION If the program is canceled due to insufficient registration, a full refund will be made through the Village within fifteen (15) to thirty (30) working days.

CLASS CANCELLATION If a class is canceled during the program, participants will be notified of the make up date by phone, in writing through a hand-out at class, through the mail, or via e-mail.

REFUND POLICY Refunds are issued as follows - 100% before the start of week one; 75% before the start of week two; 50% before the start of week three; 25% before the start of week four; and NO REFUND after week four. Refunds will be issued in 30 to 60 days.

AGE CRITERIA POLICY Appropriate age levels have been established by our supervisors to ensure a rewarding experience for all children. Children must meet the age requirements of a class within two weeks after the starting date of the class (except Creative Play). Noncompliance with age requirements can result in removal from the program. The Recreation Department reserves the right to request a birth certificate if the age of the child is in question.

PROGRAM ENROLLMENT POLICY All programs have minimum and maximum enrollments. If the minimum enrollment has not been reached by the stated deadline, the Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or consolidate the program with another. If a program is canceled, full refunds will be issued.

BEHAVIOR POLICY Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make the Recreation Department safe and enjoyable for all participants. Participants shall: 1) show respect to all participants and staff; 2) refrain from using foul language; 3) refrain from causing bodily harm to another participant or staff; 4) show respect for equipment, supplies and facilities.

INSURANCE The Romeoville Recreation Department carries no medical insurance and assumes no liability for personal injuries or loss of personal property while attending Recreation Department activities. A participant’s own policy must cover any medical costs incurred.

TOILET TRAINING POLICY Children enrolled in a program for ages 3 and older must be toilet trained unless it is a parent/toddler class. We stress the importance of children practicing their independence and we do not aid children in the bathroom. Our instructors are not responsible for diaper changing or toilet training. We reserve the right to deny participation by a child age 3 or older if they are not toilet trained.

WE LOVE PARENTS BUT... With your child’s best interest in mind, parents are invited to their child’s last class meeting only. Our instructors always welcome the opportunity to discuss a participant’s progress with parents at any time. Thank you for your cooperation.

INCLUSION AIDES Northern Will County Special Recreation Association provides qualified staff to help assist the Romeoville Recreation Department’s community recreation leaders in providing recreational programs for children and adults with special needs in a safe environment. Inclusion aides assist participants with recreation activities and with any accommodations needed to make sure it is an optimal experience for participants. If your child needs assistance, please mention this on your registration form or upon registration. We do our best to provide inclusion aides for all requests; however, from time to time an aide may not be available because of the class time or day.

RESIDENT RATE A Resident Rate Status is available for non residents who wish to register for classes at a resident rate. This can be purchased for $100 per household and will allow non residents to register for classes at the resident rate during the non-resident registration period (walk-in registration only). A Resident Rate Status is good for one year from the date of issue. These passes are eligible for all recreation classes; they do not apply to the Birthday Party Packages, Open Gym, Child Care, Fit 4 Life, or rentals.

ID POLICY All registrants will be asked to show one form of photo identification to ensure residency and confirm information on file. Please be prepared to show identification at any time (state-issued ID or drivers license).

PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS Program scholarships are to assist families in need and are based on the availability of funds. These scholarships are only available to Romeoville residents who can provide proof of income or eligibility of need (i.e. free/reduced school lunch program, IL Dept. of Public Aid recipient, most recent W-2 for all members living in household). In addition, proof of Romeoville residency is also required. Applications can be picked up at the Recreation Center and must be submitted during the registration period with supporting documentation. Notification of scholarship approval will be provided after the registration period. Scholarships will not provide 100% of program fees, do not pay for program supplies, and Day Camp, Pre-School, and Before and After School childcare programs are excluded. The Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center continues to exceed expectations by drawing thousands to our area. Located along the Route 53 corridor, this complex has drawn regional attention with an estimated 400,000 visitors annually. youthGymnastics athletics Join Our Competitive Team!

Tumbleweeds Tryouts: July 16-20

REGISTRATION FOR TRYOUTS BEGINS JUNE 4TH! The Tumbleweed’s program aims to provide an opportunity for female gymnasts from age 6 through high school to learn, grow, develop, and mature into outstanding young adults and athletes. The Tumbleweeds team nurtures and instills confidence to achieve anything they put their minds to. With that said, the utmost priority is to provide an incredible gymnastics experience for each gymnast. This happens because the gymnasts, parents, families, and coaches work together as a team. Being a part of the Romeoville Tumbleweeds is very rewarding and fun; however, it requires a huge commitment from both the gymnast and her family. If your child makes the team, commitments include: year-round practices, strict attendance policy, competitions (local and long-distance), additional fees for competitions & uniforms, and additional performances/appearances.

If you make the team: practices begin August 20th. Tryout results will be posted on Tuesday, July 24th at 4:30pm at the Recreation Center. There will be a MANDATORY parent meeting on Monday, August 13 at 6:00pm in the Drdak Room. LEVEL Pre-Team A & B Gymnasts that wish to tryout will need to register Intermediate/Advanced for the date and time according to their current Level 2 & 3 Summer class or team level. All gymnasts must Level 2 & 3 pre-register for tryouts by July 8. There is no Level 4 & Up cost to tryout. Gymnasts will need to stay for the Level 4 & Up entire length of the tryout. If multiple time slots are Non-Member/other class available, only sign up for one (only one tryout is Non-Member/other class necessary).

TRYOUTS

TEAM ZONE: EXTRA PRACTICES

This two hour practice is open to those signed up for tryouts or has already tried out. The practice will consist of a group stretch, conditioning, and a semi-structured practice/open gym. Preregistration required at least 7 days prior.
