Collaboration Leads to Removal of CTA Water Tower

T

he Village is grateful for the partnerships that enabled the removal of the rusted, abandoned CTA water tower at the Harlem/Lake Green Line stop last month. For years, concerns were expressed about the structure’s appearance and potential safety risks. Thanks to the leadership and support of the Village’s Tri-Village Community representatives (villages of River Forest, Forest Park and Oak Park) and Illinois Senate President Don Harmon, the CTA finally prioritized and completed the removal of the water tower. Oak Park Village President Vicki Scaman, Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins and Village President Adduci personally appealed to the CTA President to expedite this project. Although funding challenges initially delayed progress, Forest Park Mayor Rory Hoskins and his Public Works team advocated for the CTA to move the project forward despite funding challenges. The Village looks forward to continuing the Tri-Village Community partnership to deliver meaningful improvements and solutions for our residents.
