Royalty selected for Homecoming festivities

Local nonprofit organizations are being encouraged to participate in the inaugural Community Service Fair at Fallbrook High School. Scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on campus, the fair is an opportunity to connect organizations with high school students who need community service hours to fulfill new graduation requirements. “ We a l r e a d y h a v e 1 0 organizations that have signed up and we would like to have as many as possible; we will make room for everyone,” said Anthony

CDBG funds reallocated locally Joe Naiman Village News Correspondent The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted 5-0 Sept. 23 to reallocate $1,121,071 of Community Development Block Grant funding, including $793,500 which will be used for vehicles and other equipment at four fire stations and $28,156 which was reallocated from the design and right-of-way phase to the construction phase of a sidewalk project at Ammunition Road and Alturas Road. “Everything’s good in that regard,” said Todd Henderson, the director of the county’s Department of Housing and Community Development. Catherine Longworth, former Lord Mayor of The City of Westminster and senior patron of London’s New Year’s Day Parade and Festival and her associate Robert Bone paid a visit to Fallbrook High School the evening of Sept. 26 where she formally announced to Warrior Marching Band members, parents, and school officials that the school band was invited to participate in the prestigious event in January of 2016. Longworth followed up two hours later by making the announcement public during halftime of the varsity football game. In explaining why the invitation was being extended, Longworth said, “I promise you [spectators] don’t come because of the weather; it’s generally speaking quite chilly. Come out they do, and they come to see you because you are fresh, exhilarating, and tremendous entertainment to the crowds. We don’t have marching bands such as yours. They [will] just love you!” The London New Year’s Day Parade, with a route of 2.2 miles, is known as the crown jewel of London’s festive season. The event blends historical pomp and ceremony with exuberant,
