Four people were arrested after Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators from the Hemet station served a theft-related search warrant in the 58000 block of La Colina Lane in the Terwilliger area of Anza, June 1.

Manzanita Ranch shouts out ‘thanks’ to clients, supporters at annual Memorial Day event Tony Ault TAULT@REEDERMEDIA.COM

Several new horses whinnied while the band played, military veterans and families talked and laughed during a “thank you” get together hosted by Manzanita Ranch on Memorial Day in Anza. Johnny and Jill Roberts, managers of Manzanita Ranch, where “horses are the therapy” for military veterans, first responders and those suffering from Post-tramatic Sress Disorder after witnessing or living through a terrifying event. The potluck gathering included a tour of the newer additions to the ranch including a tack and feed storage unit, covered shelters, new corrals and a larger fenced in area where the ranch’s seven gentle therapy horses can run and exercise. The new additions to the ranch were the result of charitable donations provided by sponsors

ACIL Horseshoe Tournament highlights refurbished horseshoe pits Diane Sieker ANZAEDITOR@REEDERMEDIA.COM

The Anza Civic Improvement League (ACIL) hosted a horseshoe pitching tournament Saturday, May 27. The event was low key, but a success for the winners of the day. The Gold trophy was received by Joey Rayas, the Silver went to Scott Briles and Bronze to BJ Kitchen. “Well we didn’t have as many horseshoe players as we could have, but we had some great competition between the participants,” said ACIL President Ken Ogren. “Bud Elmore cooked up some delicious dogs and everyone had a good time.
