Dear Members, It’s an honor to put together our Village Club of Sands Point Quarterly Newsletter. This privilege has given me the opportunity to dive into all aspects of the Club. From the Paddle Courts to the Grounds Crew, I have learned so much about the Club and it is such a joy to get to share that information with you! Our Club leaders are tasked to give you the inside scoop about ongoing projects, upcoming events, and department goals in their own words. Each Newsletter will provide you with a firsthand look at the hard work the Department Managers and their teams put in, day in, and day out, to provide you with an exceptional guest experience. I can wholeheartedly say that every staff member commits 100% effort into their work and it is an absolute pleasure to work alongside our Village Club of Sands Point Family!

The 2021 Golf Season is off to a roaring start! The Tournament Season started with a new Masters event back in April that was well attended. The participants were treated to a Sands Point Masters Cup and the traditional Egg Salad and/or pimento cheese sandwiches. The two person teams went out to play a better ball of partners net and then went home to root for the players they picked at the Masters. The three scores combined counted as their final score. We then preceded to have record turnouts for our Club Opening Scramble and the Women’s League Opening Scramble! We have only just begun with a very busy golf events calendar this year. Take a look below for some upcoming event highlights to be on the lookout for.

As most of you know, last summer on September 14th, I played a Golf Marathon for Babes Against Cancer/American Cancer Society. From sunrise to sunset, I played 200 holes in 13 hours and raised a total of $63k for Cancer Research. On Monday, August 23rd, 2021, With the support of the Babes Against Cancer Committee, I will be trying to beat that record, especially with a little more daylight this year. Please start saving your pennies and help support this amazing cause. Spectators are welcomed and I would love for you all to come out and watch!

They say, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” No truer words could be said about how I feel about my role here at the VCSP. I stand by this every single day, working with all your kiddos and being able to develop everlasting relationships with hands down one of the best memberships, ever!

Golf Course Update A Note From

It has been a busy spring in the grounds department. Planting Flowers, laying seed and making way for a busy VCSP summer, we are just starting to see all of our hard work bud into beautiful flower for all the members to enjoy.

We started the season off by adding sand to our bunkers. This process consists of evaluating the depth throughout the entire bunker and adding sand to low spots and redistributing sand from arears that have accumulated over the season. The bunker is then weeded, compacted and raked. At least 5 people exited this bunker on the high side. If you focus on the lower left of this picture, you can see where the bunker edge has collapsed from golfers repeatedly exiting there. One of the biggest complaints we receive about our bunkers are balls plugging in the steep slopes. This slope is meant to be packed firmly, to allow the ball to roll down into the fluffy sand that we keep maintained. As a membership we need to

appreciate that we need to be creative and add space to accommodate our of membership. Starting Memorial Day weekend we will be offering a BBQ behind hole 1 that will be open Friday-Sunday 11-4, serving fresh burgers, chicken and sausage off the grill. This will take some pressure off the Grille Room and offer a fast, casual menu. Junior golf has taken off, and we are excited to introduce Friday Night BBQ’s- located by the Guggenheim Lounge. We will offer kids favorites as well as items for adults and bar service. This will run every Friday night 5-7pm, for the duration of Junior Golf.
