Dear Parents/Guardians: The month of March was 8illed of fun educational activities for our Panther Family. We celebrated famous author Dr. Seuss’ birthday during the 8irst week of March. During that week students participated in various activities that focused on many of his books. The theme of this year’s celebration was “What Pet Should I Get”, which is one of his famous books. Students were immersed in the lessons from many of Dr. Seuss’ Books. The week culminated in a inspiring display of authentic student work. Village Elementary also hosted our annual Kindergarten Round Up on March 9. Parents and guardians of students entering kindergarten in August, 2016 attended to learn more about our school. Those in attendance received a detailed orientation of entering kindergarten as well as a tour of the school. If you missed the opportunity to attend this event please contact us for further information. The Science, Technology, Arts, Mathematics, Preparatory (S.T.A.M.P.) Program will host their Fourth Annual Military Ball and Awards Ceremony. Students and their families will enjoy an evening 8illed with military tradition that includes an awards ceremony, along with formal dinner and dancing. The highlight of the evening will be honoring students with awards for their accomplishments. Students will de8initely have a blast! As we prepare for the Florida State Assessment (FSA) we ask that you review the testing schedule that was provided and tips for getting your child/ren comfortable for testing. We know that our students are prepared academically for these assessments. We thank our Panther Family for their support to our school and supplemental programs. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me at 754-‐322-‐8750. Respectfully Yours,

Deborah A. Peeples

School Advisory Council (SAC)

SAC stands for School Advisory Council. School Improvement is an absolute priority for all Broward County schools. Every school has a school Advisory Council (SAC). Purpose: • Study the school's track record and come up with an annual plan to improve education in vital areas such as: • student achievement • curriculum • safety • discipline The SAC committee provides a place where parents can • voice their opinions and provide suggestions. • SAC members have an active role in making decisions that will best serve the best interest of all students. • The SAC also gives parents the opportunity to actively participate in setting goals and making plans to achieve those goals. • SAC allows for parents to identify issues that need to be addressed concerning the school climate.

The next SAC meeting will be held on April 13, 2016 Village Elementary: Media Center 5:30 p.m.

What is all the squealing laughter coming from the Art Room after school on Wednesdays? It is a group of 2nd and 3rd grade students known as the Crazy 8s. The children have used glow sticks to create geometric shapes, played War of the Dice, and decoded various secret messages. No worksheets—just fun! Crazy 8’s will resume on April 7, 2016.
