Villa Belvedere is an ancient 16th century mansion, set in a panoramic position at an altitude of about 400 meters, surrounded by 20 acres of woodland and olive groves in the Tuscan hills in the heart of the Chianti Classic wine growing area.

Being close to Florence and Siena puts Villa Belvedere near the most noted art centres of Tuscany and in an ideal position for cultural and tourist excursions.

Borgo San Gualberto is a rural building, located few meters from the Villa, where all the activities related to the agricultural work for wine and oil production were done.

The accommodations are traditionally furnished with antiques, and all are fitted with modern conveniences. The superb panorama, the tranquility of the vineyards, olive groves and the evergreen woods that surround Villa Belvedere in the typical Tuscan countryside are all elements that make it a special place to stay.

Not least of all, historically, it must be mentioned that being situated at the boundaries between Florence and Siena, numerous battles during the Medici era took place in the vicinity of Villa Belvedere.

16th Century Villa

The original structure of the main building of Villa Belvedere has the typical 16th century rectangular plan with two lateral wings forming the traditional “U� towards the hill.

There are three levels: a cellar, a ground floor, and a first floor which is characterized by a slender central tower. All façade openings are framed by wide bands of sandstone as are the central portals on the two main facades. The front, facing the valley, imperiously dominates the Val di Pesa from its privileged hillside location, and has a breathless panorama. The opposite side has an ample courtyard, closed on three sides and is graced with a double loggia.

Internally on the ground floor there are two large coffered ceiling living rooms, a dining room with a fireplace, a bedroom including a studio, a bathroom, a small dining area, and there are also service rooms, a kitchen and a remarkable frescoed chapel.

The first floor offers 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a living room, a corridor and storage spaces.

The traditional ancient cellars are underground, reached either by an internal staircase or directly from the outdoor antique portal.

The Villa has recently been fitted with the most up-to-do technical equipment. The water is autonomously supplied (well and spring), waste treatment by septic tanks and degreasing sump pumps that flush and treat the waste downhill on the property. The electrical system is concealed, as are the telephone, television and satellite antenna systems. The heating and hot water systems are centralized.

Adjacent to the Villa there is a building, a guest house, called Borgo San Gualberto which has two floors: -Ground Floor consists of a kitchen, a breakfast room, a dining area decorated with antique oak barrels, a pantry, a laundry room, and a cloakroom, etc.

-First Floor has 6 independent suites, 2 which have kitchen use; and all of which have private baths, heating/air conditioning, telephones, and TV/satellite.

A bar connected to the large swimming pool is also near the Villa.

Surrounding Villa Belvedere there is a vast lawn from which an incredible view of the Tuscan Chianti Classic wine growing area can be enjoyed.

On arrival, guests drive through a monumental gate flanked by ancient cypress trees, immersed in an oak tree wood, and reach Villa Belvedere where a protected parking area is available.

Villa Belvedere is a member of the Italian Historical Mansions Association.
