Index WELCOME TO THE VIKING FAMILY Based in Torsås, in southeast Sweden, Viking Toys is a small, family-run toy company with a big heart. Each Viking toy is designed and manufactured with love and care.

When I started Viking Toys in the mid 70’s, my dream was to create the safest and most durable toys on the market…toys with high play value which would inspire children to use their imagination. That dream still inspires me and everyone on the Viking team, and it remains the backbone and philosophy of our company to the present day.

For us, toxic free toys are obvious. All the material in our toys are free from substances harmful to the environment and human health.

The Viking design Viking Toys embody a unique product design that adds to and helps strengthen the brand value of the line.

As head designer for Viking Toys, it is my mission to continue along this successful path and to accentuate the brand identity in all new products and concepts.

A typical product from Viking Toys should be designed based on classical, basic play values and combine these values with a modern perspective of the child’s world of today. My goal is to create toys that enrich play, last for play and make children want to play.

In order to design good toys, one must have a feeling for the spirit of children’s play. Actually, I think the designer himself must be a person who likes to play and diddle like a child as I do.

I prefer to design by constructing a model of the product bit by bit, in cardboard or wood.

At Viking, we often decide at our product meetings what should be designed. Sometimes I have my own ideas which I present to Viking Toys.

To even be considered for the Viking range, the toy must meet the Viking 5S-criteria; it must be SAFE, SIMPLE, STRONG, SOFT and SILENT. And safety is without a doubt the most important “S” for Viking.
