Utilizing light to establish measurement standards is known as optical metrology. It can be described more broadly as the study of light measurement. In accordance with this more inclusive definition, it may also cover measurements that concentrate on the characteristics of light or those that employ light to ascertain the characteristics of other objects (such as their temperatures, sizes, or distances).
