CHARITY BEGINS AT…THE CHERRY TREE CENTRE Over the course of a year The Cherry Tree Centre in Wallasey plays host to many charitable organisations who use the shopping mall for their fundraising activities. Thousands and thousands of pounds are raised by the shoppers of Wallasey for charities such as North West Cancer Research, RNLI, Guide Dogs for the Blind and the Poppy Appeal to name a few. John White Centre Manager commented “the shoppers who come through the Cherry Tree every day are so generous and are always willing to dig deep for our fundraisers. A big thanks goes out to you on behalf of the charities you support, it just goes to show that even in unsettled economic times such as these the people of Wallasey and beyond are happy to help”. STOP PRESS…STOP PRESS… Calling all Star Wars fans! The 99th Imperial Garrison are coming back to the centre on 7th April, come and have your picture taken with your favourite Star Wars characters.

If you fancy a night of entertainment, dancing and a sumptuous Middle Eastern themed banquet and be helping 2 very special charities at the same time, then look no further than A Taste of the Middle East at Thornton Hall. Local lady Jean Hayden is organising a fund raising event on Friday 30th March. She’s bringing together friends to put this belly dancing extravaganza on. There’ll be traditional Egyptian Belly Dancing and dance formations throughout the night and you can even join in with them. There’ll be a raffle, auction and plenty of entertainment. Jean has been inspired to do something since losing her sister to breast cancer and meeting other women who have survived it, the

night is going to raise money for CANCER Active, whose aim is to empower people to increase their personal odds of beating cancer and a charitable organisation called Just Because who aim to raise funds and promote awareness, prevention and early detection of breast cancer for women in Egypt. “The work of both these charities is inspiring and I am hoping to raise much needed funds to help them out by hosting a night of fun and entertainment” says Jean “Thornton Hall is a brilliant venue and I’d love as many people to come along and join in the fun!” For more details and to book please call Jean on 07519 603 998 or email jhayden7@ntlworld.com.
